Is there a modern version of Redknapp out there who can encourage players to go out and express themselves whilst giving them a basic tactical framework?

We've had years of over-coaching of the players, including under Poch, but every manager these days seems to be stuck to rigid tactical systems and needs players who can follow instructions to the letter.

Are the days of arm-round-the-shoulder managers completely over?
Redknapp anyone?

What kills me in the Dan K article is that line... the 'putting off an I'm too good for you' energy' because that's it. That's been it for a year despite utter shite getting us knocked out of the EC with that shambles against Mura. It's like the hot girl offering a pity fuck, only she ain't that hot, she's wearing a weave and pancake makeup to fix up the cracks and you're seven pints in...

Plenty of examples of where we played opposition we should be comfortably beating yet didn't and then Conte made it about the team not being good enough and absolving himself of blame.

I don't think we are good enough. But I do think we are more than capable of brushing these teams aside. One or 2 shock results happen to any club but the rate that we put in these shoddy performances against poor teams reflects badly on Conte, yet he never owns it.

Apols if already covered. But I don’t recall a coach taking openly about the prospect of getting sacked as Conte had yesterday. It’s like he doesn’t want to be here.
Klopp didn’t and took the blame pool were doing badly
Potter didn’t and took the blame

it’s clear to me he wants to be gone.

Took 2 months or so for Jose to get sacked after those articles that players didn't enjoy his training methods, tactics etc. It took one month after "big brother" articles about Poch and players not liking his training methods and tactics. 2 months have passed since similar stuff about Conte. Those articles are always overblown but whenever those articles start to appear I know that manager won't last long. Shame that club waited so long to pull the trigger, but I guess he deserved to stay while we were still in Fa Cup and CL.

Agree... it's about who we think we are really... we think we are a big club and a big team... but we have nothing to show for it and are not capable to act and play like a big club... that's why we fail time and time again... we don't have a plan and continue to make the wrong decisions.

Conte's mentality and view on things doesn't help at all right now.

It’s absolutely blatantly obvious to anyone who isn’t totally incapable of reading between the lines.

The club needs to move towards a holistic approach, we can't continue with a coach who won't listen to the people in the background.

I stated before that Benfica changed everything last summer and moved towards a holistic approach as Jorge Jesus wanted total control and wouldn't listen to data analysts, medical people etc etc

The difference between Benfica from last season and this season is remarkable. We have already made steps in that direction with the appointment of a performance director, go all the way.
