That's the problem though - I do agree that better football would make it easier to swallow but do you not feel like it's a sad indictment that basically, we'd just settle for the better football? We were there a few years ago - "good old Spurs who play lovely football but never win anything" so if we can just get back to that, people would be able to live with that.But the inevitability of disappointment was at least smothered a bit under Poch and Redknapp; this is like Chinese water torture where it's the painful AND predictable. Actually, it's more like Chinese water torture where someone explains it's really smart after every fucking drip.
As Brighton or Bournemouth or Fulham I'd be ok with that but everything is set up for Spurs to be a lot more than that - off the pitch but we're like the great pretenders. Ultimately we're achieving no more of any note from a fan point of view than under Alan Sugar - unless top 4 is a trophy. Top 4 should be a springboard, not the winning post.
