That's the problem, I don't think that we are. We literally have the best manager for the job but still wont do things his way. ENIC doesn't show any ambition to win a trophy. It still feels like they're happy to compete with little spend and qualify for Europe.

We have unsuitable "serial winner" yet again as we are desperate for trophies. Arsenal went for "be the best you can on given and limited resources" and it is now paying dividends and pissess all over this Santini, Ramos, Mourinho, Conte route where you hire "winners" to bring trophies with no longer term plan, strategy, philosophy, nothing. Just eye on the trophy. Which is blatantly wrong route on our resources.

So you don't think he's squeezing the most out of this team? You think we could do better than 4th last season? You think we can do better than 5th this season?
He's literally squeezing the best out of this group, we're where we belong with this squad. He just looks dejected because he doesn't like to compete for top 4 and finds himself there again this season.
We’re getting bossed most weeks in midfield, struggle to keep clean sheets, rarely dominate teams any more. He doesn’t change anything, just complains. All that money for a coach who can only play one system.

Getting rid of Levy means fuck all unless he is replaced by some sportwashing sugar daddy. It's not Levy (lot of things are, down to appointment of likes of Conte), club isn't in financial situation that allows to have wage budget on par with blood money clubs or those generating more revenue the traditional way like Man Utd.

If he needs such tools to compete at all, he is on the wrong club.
Maybe not quite the same level but we seem to be so far off even the money Arsenal spend! They have a clear vision we have Levy bouncing about trying to buy players on the cheap as he thinks it’s good business.

I agree with this. There's a lot wrong with this club, especially at the top, but this season is being sacrificed on the altar of Conte's pride to some extent. Everyone can see we need to change the formation, but he won't change on point of principle.

I really don't understand this take. If they didn't give a shit why hire two of the most expensive managers in the world? Why cough up around 300 million net on 20 odd players the past 3 years.

I am more forgiving of the "they've made bad appointments/no clear post Poch vision" argument than they don't give a shit.
They give a shit about finishing top four, not about winning. In essence they care about where the money is.

And he’ll walk away in the summer.

There seems to be this impression that you can hire a “project manager” and they’ll deliver silverware. It’s bollox.

Woolwich were the biggest spenders in Europe in summer 21. They spent a bundle last summer too. Whoever you get, you need to back them.

The problem at our club isn’t the managers.

We had higher wage budget at the start of the season. And by some margin.
For the first time ever and only because they wrote off a number of huge contracts over the past couple of years, so don’t try playing that card

Yea cause we have wasted money on players that aren’t right! No plan, just buying players because Levy thinks he’s got a good deal. Then to top of the cycle he wants top dollar for players who are not up to it and we get stuck with them, year on year.

Well the card is that neither them or us are capable of having wage budget on par with Manchester teams or even Liverpool. It's a given fact that many don't seem to want to admit.

So we get a coach who can play ten systems. Would that make you happy?

Because one system, three systems or ten systems, name me a coach Levy can hire who will take how this club is run, work under Levy and the conditions thereof and produce a winning team. This club takes fucking good managers, ruins their reputations or records and spits them out again.

And whoever the next patsy is, the net result will be exactly the same only the complaint about that coach will be a different one and tailored to suit and we'll want another one out.

And once more, Levy will be put in his cot and allowed to sleep an undisturbed and happy sleep, this club needs a reset from top to bottom and until that happens all this manager stuff? I just can't see what's going to change. This one, the next one or the one after.

I'm going to actively and fucking ferociously want the next manager out as soon as he arrives. Fuck it, why waste time :D

But we need unity as a club to do well, doing this is just divisive and counter productive.

Do it behind closed doors.
Doing it behind doors doesn’t always work. One says one thing the other says another, you will never actually know what’s happening.
If he never came out in the press about anything some would think he’s happy with everything at the club, nothing needs to change, the vision is working, trust the process… and that would means he takes all the blame.
Levy can’t hide behind anything if it’s being spoken about. Levy wants unity? Then levy needs to gives him unity, give him what he probably promised him at the start.

Absolute nonsense to imply Arteta has done this on limited resources, aside from transfers the players they let go were huge losses.
