Son and Kane both out of form and Kane looked particularly out of touch and lethargic rarely challenging for the ball. I would give one of Richarlison and Son a half and put Kane on at half time. We need to be winning the 50 50's

Kulu is our best player. Just give him a free role and ask him to create more. Doherty needs to start. Give one of PEH or Bentancur a rest and let Bissouma start a match.

Well, as part of a very defensive back 4 that allows the rest to be more dynamic. To be honest I look at everyone’s starting 11s and every week it’s looking worse. We’ve got 5 fbs/wbs at the club right now and not a single one over the last year has made himself undroppable. We’ve got CMs who none of which are suited to a two in a 343 or 352. None of our CBs apart from maybe Lenglet are good ball players and the opposition have sussed out the Kane dropping deep tactic.

I'd like to see him try Sess at LWB and Perisic at RWB. Sess has linked up well with Sonny the back end of last season and not really put a foot wrong so far this season either. Agree Perisic is more than capable on both sides as well.

I want to see Doherty and Kulusevski on the right with Richarlison on the left. Doherty and Kulusevski partnered up very well iirc.

Maybe freshen up the midfield a bit and give Bissouma or Skipp a run out too? Feels less likely, though.

I thought we'd solved a substantial problem in the transfer window - namely, lack of cover/options for Bentancur and Hojbjerg. I also thought we were flying with Skipp back in the frame. Conte's system puts a massive workload on a pivot midfield so it was a real issue. Now seems like it still is a real issue when the rotation doesn't happen. I also think Lenglet playing diagonal balls to Doherty, Spence or even Perisic would be a worthwhile experiment.

Bissouma / Bentancur

Kulu Kane Richie


But Conte will no doubt

go with Royal, Son, PEH etc
