We're not postponing the games because Ethel from number 38 has just died, mate.

Context.
This is the crux of it I suppose. I totally get people considering it different but to me she is no different.

Then you have people who do think it’s different but think things should go ahead and others who don’t. Hard to know what the real feeling is in this specific thing.

What I am worried about is if they push this fixture back to the end of the season.

We could have either a title decider or a top 4 decider away at City last game of the season, that would be terrible.

If you gave us the option of a title decider away at the etihad we would all take that

I get it I’m just not sure even the majority of people who are effected by this would want the games postponed. If they do fair enough. I wonder what a poll would look like on here but accept that wound not be representative of the entire country.
Then you don't get it at all.

The EFL has confirmed that their midweek fixtures will be played and they're only postponing this weekend. So if the PL follows suit Leicester next weekend should be on.
Not if state funeral is on at the weekend - no chance. CL game will be on but Leicester will be postponed.

Exactly.

If we are looking at postponements, the big silver lining is that Conte has more time to work on the training pitch.

Postponing this fixture in particular is more to our advantage than City's.

Also, could be they don't have an extra days rest later on in the season.

But didn't they have defensive injuries ?

Surely they'll postpone it to the following Monday? I know Sunday is the 10th day where it's supposed to be held but holding a funeral on a Sunday doesn't seem right.

And I think that is partly why they have cancelled the games. It is the respectful thing to do in my opinion.

I'm not sure why people are so annoyed that it has been cancelled. Just go and do something else instead. That's what I will do, I'll just get on with life. It's only football.

I disagree with it being the respectful thing to do but then it’s subjective isn’t it. I think we should have a referendum to see what the true will of the people is.

I’m fortunate that I live up north but my mates coming up for the game are lumbered with £70 train fees. Guess I’ll have to take them to a Preston nightclub instead. Poor souls.

I suspect the PL is aware of the timing of the funeral - and it is probably on Monday, allowing next week’s fixtures to go on as scheduled.

Indeed very few of the people whining about this will be those that are actually affected financially, and I do feel for those that actually are.

At the end of the day, she was bigger than football for the majority of British people. Im no Royalist, but context here is key.
