Really suggest you watch this if you want a full idea of what Bissouma is.

Showcases his immense strengths well, and his limitations equally well.

We're signing him to bring a bit of beast mode to our midfield. I assume by limitations you mean playmaking but hopefully most of that will be covered by Conte's patterns of play.

I'd imagine the emphasis on more cutting passes will come from Bentancur or PEH alongside him who have started to show that ability in recent games.

I’ve watched him quite extensively for the past 4 seasons. The reason for this is we were linked when he was at Lille and I was really intrigued when I saw some of his footage there. So when he signed for Brighton I wanted to watch him closer.

Anyway, definitely agree that he has some of the skills of Wanyama, Dembele and Kante. He is an absolute beast of a midfielder can dominate matches with his athleticism, technique and strength.

I would also say though that I really believe he’s got more in his locker, he just needs to bring it out. I’ve seen him play superb passes forward and influence action higher up at times, so he definitely has more to his game and more to give.

I really think he could become an absolute worldy under Conte.

I agree nick, I have always admired him as well. Excellent player.

One thing that excites me is that he hasn’t played in a dominant team in his whole career.

Lille league positions when he was there: 11 and 17. Brighton league positions 17, 15, 16, 9. Mali is not a top African team.

The upside potential for him at Spurs when combining with players such as Romero, Son and Kane is exciting to think about.

In addition, I’ll probably have Bentancur/Bissouma as my starting midfield but seeing the improvement in Hojbjerg when playing with Bentancur and how he raises his game with Denmark, I think he will improve loads with Bissouma by his side and is likely to be more appreciated when the burden on him playing every game is lessened.
Would love to watch us play Benta, hojberg and bissouma at home against Liverpool and press them and battle them in midfield to completely dominate them. Then have spence, perisic, son and Kane leading the counter.

Yeah that’s actually a great midfield 3 to go to battle against the top sides in big games

Honestly I thought he was destined for Liverpool, I can’t remember if I said it on here but I said to my friends that I thought with his next move he would become the best midfielder in the prem.

It just feels too good to be true that he’s joining to be honest, I’m over the moon we have signed him, I’d say that deep lying midfielders are always my favourite type of signing and I do think De Jong would be my ultimate dream midfield signing, he’s an outlier taste wise in what I hope for from a midfielder because usually I get way more excited by a Wanyama type of midfielder and we were really blessed to have Wanyama and Dembele join us and I remember just how excited I was when we signed Dembele because he had just absolutely bossed United. I was extremely excited for Ndombele too but that ended in tears (mostly mine) but Bissouma I just feel like we have finally sorted that position.

I was also thinking about how glad I was that we didn’t sign Tielemans because I think Pape Sarr is going to be incredible and he now has a very easy route into the team once he develops. I’ve said many a time that Yaya Toure is my favourite non Spurs player in Prem history and I’m really hopeful that Sarr can be that type of player for us though it will be near impossible to get to the standard that Yaya set. Actually Yaya was coaching with Spurs wasn’t he? I’d hire him just to train Sarr

I’ve done some research to compare Brighton’s performances when Bissouma plays vs when he doesn’t and there is a significant difference, which proves how important he is to them.

• He played 26 games, thus missing 12.
• The points per game with Bissouma is 1.57 compared to 0.91 without him.
• From the 12 games he missed in the prem, Brighton only managed 1 Win.
• Brighton scored an average of 1.23 goals per game when Bissouma played compared to scoring an average of just 0.83 without him.
• Brighton conceded an average of 1.11 goals per game when Bissouma played compared to conceding an average of 1.25 goals per game without him.

The above shows that with Bissouma, Brighton managed to score more, concede less, and achieve more points with him in the side. He will without a doubt, improve us and help us reach new heights.

Brilliant signing. Well done Paratici and co??

A quick interview with Bissouma from last season on his ambitions playing in the Champions League, as well as Graham Potter describing his potential as scary.

@Bluto Blutarsky noticed the same thing from watching him this season. We're going to be underwhelmed if we're expecting a rangy passer who initiates attacks and breaks lines with his passing. His passing is OK, but 90% of his passes are simple, short clean-up passes and nothing more than ball recycling. Of course, he doesn't play this way for Mali or under Hughton, and is a function of the two midfielders in front of him in the CM3 of Brighton's.

The clean up role is definitely is where his best attributes shine. He is actually Kante-like, in every sense of the comparison. His dribbling and body control are incredibly good, he's press resistant, confident in every duel, and he is an aggressive ball carrier.

But there's a reason he's only 25m and it ain't just the court case or one year deal. He isn't an elite passer and doesn't get into the box much for my liking. I wonder if a Skipp-Bissouma or Hojbjerg-Bissouma pairing would play out dynamically. He has the potential to play further forward and playmake, but his passing is very conservative most of the time.
Why would we expect a rangy passer? In this system the CM two are part of the defensive block anyway.

Looks like Eriksen is coming in for that role if we decide to go three in the middle.

Love this signing, for me it's 2 for every position and he will be sharing his time with bentancur imo.

For me it's bentancur and bissouma, hoijberg and Skipp, eriksen and kuvuleski (this last one obviously changes the dynamic of the team depending on the need).

Of course bentancur can play with bissouma and Skipp with hoijberg etc, but that would be my reading of the team if everyone is fit.

As for firing up a debate, my first choice would be bissouma, hoijberg and kuvuleski. Not that we really need a first choice with those midfielders.

And that is the key. To have a middle where we don't really have a first choice/second choice but where the players are interchangeable.

Listen to this fucking mentality man. Confidence, that even borders on delusions of grandeur.

Love it.
No problem with this. Look at Zlatan. As long as he puts in the work consistently, he can believe and say this.

The weird shimmey by smith-rowe on 31seconds cracked me up a bit tbh. I had to rewatch as couldn't concentrate on what he was saying.

I am still surprised by the quoted fees. Great work if we get him in for under £30 million. Established premier League player, looks a good fit for Conte's style and I think potential to improve further. He is a great defensive midfielder, but looks assured enough in the ball. I would be interested how that side of his game progresses playing with Kane, Kulusevski and Son.
