Had Conte on a plate and fucked it. Had a number of nice progressive managers on the table (Potter, ETH, Lopetegui etc) and ignored them on the advice on a new DOF who just hired Sarri and Pirlo.

Now the team is doing that thing where most players hand around the edge of the box but no moves to give the player in possession an option.

I’d say the young lads we’ve bought are some sign. The fact none are playing is not ideal. Not making a case for his defence though

this system doesn't work unless you're very good, which clearly we aren't.
442 died out because of the lack of control it gives you in midfield but this version of 433 is much worse. the front three stay so high and narrow that we're basically playing with three strikers, the rcm gets dragged out to play as a rm/rw and the same on the left, leaving hojbjerg as a one man midfield. obviously we have issues that go beyond the system but this is just magnifying them.

He fucked it with Nuno but his approach to recruitment is a massive improvement over what came before. I’m not ready to give up on him just yet, but he needs to learn that Tottenham will not countenance defensive football. He didn’t understand the club’s culture, but it’s a lesson he can learn.

If you have such a fragile defense and full backs who cannot defend, first thing you do is protect them. Especially in a tough away game. Nuno has fallen into the trap of trying to be proactive and playing attacking football, and it has backfired spectacularly. Skipp it was our most important player in the first few games and should not be benched. Kane is a ghost and Ndombele cannot be trusted, especially as a central midfielder. It feels like playing with nine men and without a midfield. It was virtually the same under
Mourinho except Kane was here to play and cover the cracks. All three goals today came from lack of defensive coverage in central midfield.
