The lad was brilliant. Great partnership with Sanchez. Players backing each other up is what makes a team and this set the tone for the whole team as they repelled the Sterling/ Grealish real threat

Just hope Japhet stays fit, he has the tools. Still think Tomiyasu as competition would be good, Doherty as main competition is not my cup of tea.

Has all the credentials to be a top right back. Fair play to Jose for moving him to that position.

Tanganga owned Sterling and to an extent Grealish, with support from Hojbjerg and Skipp.
I thought Grealish showed himself somewhat petulant as the game wore on due to frustration, and area of his game he seemed to have curbed over the last season or so. Japhet on the other hand was competitive yet focussed.

We’ve been screaming out for a real defender. Watching Japh and Skipp today, fills me with pride and hope.

Brilliant performance from Japh. Honestly deserves that spot to himself now. He has owned Mane, Grealish and Sterling. Not bad for early in his career!
