I’m sad to see what Barcelona has become. This is the club that until recently refused to play with a shirt sponsor, and when they did finally go that way, did so for free with UNICEF.

They sold out, tried to do things the same way as Franco’s club without knowing how, and it’s all blown up.
Fuck em, been overspending for over a decade. Even this Summer knowing their financial standing, they've signed Aguero and MDP and Emerson who are all going to be on high wages. They tried to circumvent FFP by keeping Messi and paying it on the never never. They deserve everything they get.

Oh I agree with everything you’ve said here, but that’s why I’m sad. They used to be an example of a club being able to achieve the heights without selling their soul, I’m sad that either they’ve willingly destroyed this mantra… or worse, that maybe it was a myth all along.

Clubs like Barca, Madrid and Juve (even Bayern) are why i don't single out Chelsea, City or even PSG for their "financial doping"

Those "established elite" have been hoovering up other teams talent for an age, living beyond their means in many cases, and were doing so before City and PSG came along

City, Chelsea and PSG have led to a different (state backed) distortion, but Madrid received an illegal state loan, Barca have paid wages well beyond their revenue (110%!!) and had success because of it

I'm no more annoyed by City than i am the other big boys - same shit, different smell...

Wonder what Aguero makes of it as presumably he joined to partner Messi?

Wonder if he’ll take the 10 shirt now too…

Wouldn't be surprised if they retire it to be honest.

If Aguero hasn't been registered yet, the question becomes can he break the contract?

Wasn’t sure if they were allowed to do that in Spain?

More an Italian thing where youll end up like Milan with half their 1-11 numbers retired lol.

Never agree with retiring numbers either.

What do you mean not allowed to do it. They just don't give it to anyone else lol.

My understanding of Spanish squad number rules is they have to use first 25 numbers - theres even been examples where they have to de-register players who were injured long-term and re-assign to new signings.

So wasn’t sure if they were allowed to leave a number between 1-25 vacant, but guess we’ll see lol ;-)

Yeah I guess they could leave it free but it would then mean they could only register a 24 man squad. So can't see them wanting to do that.

I still wonder if we could step in for Emerson if that deal isn’t fully completed yet. Would solve our rb problems and they have dest already.

Premier league clubs should be watching this very closely as they may have no option but to loan out Depay, Aguero etc on deadline day to whoever makes the best offer. Every top club should be staying very close to this.
Ties in with all the info we hear from ITKs and journalists that the last week of the window might get wild. There are so many clubs who desperately need to shift players and get wages off the book and those (PL clubs) with money are in pole position to gobble up all of it right now.
