Mostly assests though right? Into something guaranteed to retain value.

ENIC are an investment company. They do everything to raise the value of their investment, and this includes investing in the team. It makes no sense to have an underperforming team in an expensive stadium. They won’t be maximising their investment that way.

By all means judge them when the stadium is fully up and running and generating revenue. It’s a bit pointless now when it’s been unusable.

This is partly true. Poch talked often of longevity and integrating players slowly. I was in agreement with this philosophy at the time.

But it turned out to be incorrect and the lack of good signings throughout his time here has been disastrous.

I think part of that was that to improve on the players we had would have been really difficult you then ended up gambling a little bit on promise

So I just rewatched it with headphones in (they help me concentrate on interviews so much better) and apart from maybe the names who rejected us I don't really see where there is spin? He says what I expected regarding finances and the impact of the pandemic. He didn't say Kane is or isn't leaving. Sounded like Paratici has full control of the football side (including recruitment, the academy and the women's team). He says revenue generated from the non football events will also go towards the club. And nobody can deny that because no event, aside from one set of NFL matches, have occurred.

I just don't see why people are getting in a huff over this?

Edit: and I can tell who has the agendas, because they dislike anything that can be construed as pro Levy. So please keep disagreeing and disliking. It isn't obvious at all.

Ah yes, the "be patient" message. I was told that about spurs as a kid. I'm now telling my son the same thing.

Well the stadium hasn't been used to its fullest for a full season has it? That includes the concerts and NFL game that didn't happen. So nobody knows the true impact with regards to investment.

His point about lost revenue was an interesting one. If we have been hit hardest, with the new stadium and everything it brings, surely we should come out of this stronger than the other clubs? That aside, its nothing we don't know, all fairly logical and just feels like an admission that we can write the next couple of seasons off.

If as Danny boy said Paratici has full control of the football side including the women's team then he has my deepest sympathy but I see they had a big clear out of the women so that's a start , time to start on the men then

True. We do struggle to buy the players who are obviously a step up on what we have.

So developing our own makes sense for our model. But at the same time we should have been bringing in young players and developing. Instead we bought no one and we ended up with a very stale squad.

For the cleverer business types out there.

Is there anything stopping Joe Lewis from bridging the financial hole we’ve suffered due to Covid by loaning the club, say, £200m so we can get the team up to scratch now and prevent further devaluing of the asset (which will likely happen if we’re out of the Champions League and finishing lower in the table for the next 5 years)?

It feels like this is the only way to prevent us from dropping further than we did this season. Rebuilding the squad is absolutely critical.

We are never going to have enough quality through the youth system to compete. Even Utd spend a fortune and they have the best youth set up in the country. If we want to win we have to buy better quality.

Yes I love this go to excuse everytime there is a problem at spurs we are told by particular fellow fan's that we need to be patient.
So in 4/5 years time when all this goes tits up yet again with the club still nowhere we will again be told to be patient as we embark on another five year farce.

Never said we would have enough quality just from our youth system.

But we are not prepared to do that

Always been quite neutral to DL, was upset with how our managerial search went/is going though. Obviously the timing of the interview isn't a coincidence, but this sort of communication is fairly common to counter/ease unrest. In general, I thought he came across as a genuine Spurs fan and while nothing earth-shattering was said (slight dig at Poch for not wanting to spend money though?) I perceive it a positive sign he's reaching out to us. It has been addressed that PR-wise, himself and as an extent the club as a whole have been perceived negatively, so opening up a bit must be welcomed I think.

I am under no illusion that he is and will remain Satan's little helper for some of our fans though, no matter what.

He is obviously very uncomfortable in front of the camera as the Amazon documentary showed.
Having met with him in person many many times he is generally uncomfortable with human interaction. He is not a people person, he doesn’t show warmth or ingratiate with any real passion. It’s business, let’s get on with it.

This was in the 2017 accounts , but not really sure what it all means, the Company refers to Spurs.

"In May 2017 the Company agreed a letter of credit facility of £50,000,000 with an ENIC Group company. Associated arrangement costs of £737,000 are being amortised over the availability period of the facility, which expires in August 2022."

Wonder if Bill Kenwright at Everton gets the same abuse that Levy gets , Everton have tried spending to get to the top , employed a top manager in Ancelloti but have so far failed. Spurs have spent on players , the two most expensive Sanchez and N'dombele who have not exactly excelled in my opinion, lets hope Paratici has some good contacts in the scouting fraternity.
If you go on to Everton message boards right now the answer is a resounding yes, but not BK it’s the relatively new owner moshri who is getting slated in every single post For his managerial choices.

Funny because not so long ago the Athletic did a survey on Everton fans and they were extremely happy with the direction the club was going, must have changed since Ancelotti left.

After watching his video from yesterday I actually think the personal criticism Levy has been getting has finally hit home and he seemed actually unhappy about it. It felt a bit uncomfortable watching him squirm over that in the message.
