Job well done in the end. Got a bit fortunate with the offside, but other than that, a fairly Mourinho type professional performance.
Lovely finishes from Sissoko and Sonny, and pretty much all of em did ok.

Great to get to the final, but gotta win it now...............COYS!!!!

In fairness to that tackle, it did seem in slow motion that he sort of stumbled and lost his bearings. Arguably he should have been able to control his foot and keep it lower, though.

He clearly didn't mean it, but it still happens (due to the stumble I think) but still had to be a red card

Clear red. Doubt there was intent. Looked like he was on auto pilot and wasn't sure what move he was trying to accomplish or changed his mind mid skill.

Into our first final with José. The final being rearranged for 25th April is good for us too I think. Unlike in previous League Cup finals we’ve had more recently we don’t have a vital Europa match the Thursday before. The semi-final first leg is the week after. Assuming we make it.

In the league, our match against Fulham (again!) will be arranged. We have Everton the week before and Sheff Utd the week after.

An entire 3 months of anxiety to go through before the final and spend a further 90 mins in anxiety.. Football it's mad.

Something football fans don't seem to be able to get their heads around is that a foul doesn't have to be intentional to be reckless. He looked like he slipped but then stuck his leg up to put his foot on the ball but that doesn't excuse the fact he connected with Hojbjerg with force and in a potential leg breaking part of his leg.

Was really fortunate that his leg wasn't broken. But his shin was certainly gouged up pretty good. Loved how Jose had to block him from going back on the field. That was hilarious. PEH is a warrior.

Not sure if anyone else was listening to the EPSN commentary, but one of them was going on and on about the 'Cruyff Turn', as if that was a reason he shouldn't be sent off. I can't believe that asses like that actually get paid to commentate. Bonkers.

Still, I don't think Brentford or the player have any cause for complaint. Exhibit A here is pretty damning. Thankfully PEH is okay. That's the most important thing of all.

There was no intent imo. I think he lost balance and control and totally misjudged it. A red all day long.

But calls of a 10 game ban are abit extreme. Ben Thatcher did those kind of tackles on purpose.

Actually glad the final is later, allows a complete focus on the other competitions, especially the Europa League. Every chance we can sneak top 4 and get to another final.

Yay but we're fucked if Hojbjerg misses any time. Like, really, really, really fucked and that puts a huge damper on this. Pray he's okay.

I don't think the challenge was intentional but his foot had no business being that high. Definite red card, not even sure how some can debate that.

He's fine he came back out at full time and was hugging Thomas Frank. He'll be bandaged up and OK for Villa.

Yep. Agreed. Normally as the final approaches players start to keep an eye on it and fans too, so results prior can suffer a little. Although having a big squad like City usually means players don't lose focus. I don't trust some of our players to be able to do that though.
