Safety first, gives us rest now, hurts us later, especially if we go far in the cups. It’ll be dealt with when it has to, just hope it doesn’t mean a week like when we had a uel qualifier and Chelsea in the carabao in the same week, although that week was really good for us.

The guidance was that if you can field 14 players including any kids who've played a single minute of 1st team football then the game goes ahead.

The above is the criteria for what would constitute an ability to field a team. If you fail to field a team when capable then the normal rules like happened to Boro/Blackburn years ago would be applied (points awarded to other team, point deduction, etc).
I have a suspicion the PL want to postpone a decision until they've tried to rearrange it, and if the rearranging doesn't work then they might enforce those rules.

Might be wrong of course.

Can of worms there. Say our game can be easily rescheduled but the Everton/City game can't be. Do Everton get the 3 points and we don't? Purely because of the fixture scheduling of the other team. That would be a horrible mess to resolve.

It'll be a horrible mess whatever happens. What the PL and FA (and UEFA and FIFA) have to do is find the least horrible mess. I have little confidence in them doing so.

Like you I thought they'd outlined this properly before the season started but it appears not.

That's what I think. It makes sense, because if the number of postponed, "impossible" matches gets big enough, they'll just have to find a solution for extending the season. So they get out of short term controversy but "postponing" matches, (ie. stockpiling incomplete matches for now to be dealt with at a point in the future).

It isn't a horrible mess for now. For now, these matches will just be put on the back burner in the hopes that a solution will emerge/force itself.

There's really no point in making a match-by-match final decision now.

Apparently City have more gaps in the calendar than we do (fewer European games), so it's more likely to be the other way round.

So I hope we do the same as Everton and ask for all documents for the requested postponement of the game. Levy can get someone to look over it and if we find they could have played we appeal and get the 3 points!

Of course there are two weeks of international games at end of March. Where we play San Marino, Albania and Poland.

If the league wants to start postponing games then this season is one time when silly internationals like England vs San Marino needs to be scrapped (even if it is a qualifier) to make space for rearranged fixtures

Picking a team of English players from the championship would beat San Marino and Albania. Alternatively if, they dont have a game then Southgate could just pick an under 21 squad.

He won't to that. The weirdo will have some sort of point to prove and pick all the main players after theyve played 3 games in 7 days or something.

Maybe this is a lesson to the world of football. More games isn’t better. Get rid of the league cup, make the Europa League and Champs League knockouts from the start. Then you’d actually have space to fit rearranged fixtures in. And maybe would see less injuries.
Get rid of the league cup then we have even less chance of winning something ??

At least when Marine knock us out of the FA Cup we can tell ourselves that we threw the game to free up the fixture build up later in the season

It was on Prime, which amazon keep throwing me free trials for, so I was actually really looking forward to it. Had my beer, nachos and chilli cheese bites ready. Bit gutted tbh but it might do us good to have an extra day of recovery.
