Got 100/1 odds for him to be premier league top scorer. Probably not happening but chucked a fiver on it
I mean 6 goals is a lot to catch up on. Even at this stage of the season and Bale has hit 20 goals in the league only once in his career. I think Son might legit be a good bet, Kane as well. I think Bale would get substantially less than that. If he stays fit 15 league goals would be a great outcome, considering his age and recent lack of game time.

In my mind I expect him to be like 70-80% of what Son is for us. Which I mean would still be brilliant. We will see though! I really hope that we will get him for another year, I suspect we will. Because I suspect next season we are more likely to see the best of him.

Has it occurred to anyone that Gareth Bale may have lost a slight bit of pace, I don't know that but it's what some people say, but he has seven years more experience and that playing at the top level.
There is no reason to believe that we have a player any inferior than the one that left us.

Loved watching that video. Just reminded me what a top bloke Defoe is too. Seems so down to earth and a great character. The Work and money he has donated to charities etc. stands to that also.

He’d flourish even more now with the lack of offsides in the game......or just get caught out more! ?

A credit to the club though. Always did his best and never let us down. Criminally under used by England. Sven should still be hanging his head in shame for taking Walnut to that world cup instead of him.

In response to this and the other article you posted and quickly deleted...

You obviously have some weird obsession with slating Barnett, someone who actively helped get Bale back to Spurs. You need to let it go, it's unhealthy.

Back in 2013 Barnett was working in the other direction, https://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/may/29/gareth-bale-tottenham-hotspur-real-madrid , and that was publicly with Bale still under contract.

Personally would put Bale's return more down to Levy's negotiating skills, Levy had to find the money for Bale's wages not Barnett and Levy has previously made public his dislike of agents . FIFA are working on trying to curb the influence of agents and their fees but doubtful it will ever happen .

Yeah I get that Barnett helped to force Bale's move, but that's kind of his job. Let's be honest Bale left a Spurs who were completely bereft of talent. He was already world class and had every right to make the move. Still to this day I'm relieved it was to Madrid and not United, or even worse Chelsea.

I agree that the money agents get is disgusting, but that's football now. No need to single him out when he clearly helped through one of the most exciting signings in our history.

He is a far better player now than when we sold him to Madrid

He's Bale's agent it's his job why are you so angry at him, it's not personal it's strictly business.
I don't like agents but they are part of the game now.

There’sa lot worse than Barnett. We fetched a world record fee for Bale from the most prestigious club in the world when we were very much second tier. At least he also had Bale sign such contracts every summer after a good season so we did have a fee that gave us an opportunity to seriously improve the squad. The real devils are the agents who get their clients to run down their contracts in hope of a huge fee coming their way for the free as they get a cut of the disproportionally large signing on fee as well as the salary.

If Harry Kane's agent now started to go on Spanish TV telling them how much Harry was in love with R Madrid , I'd love to see the response.

Yes but Harry's not and Gareth Bale always was, it was his dream move.
I remember at the time Barnett thanked Levy for keeping his word on the deal, they held back on the deal until we got in our new recruits and only after that did it go through and the fee become public. It was a pretty tidy respectful deal all round.
Plus we're not the club we were then, in fact when I think about it, it's frightening how far we've come in the last eight years, if we'd still been that club Harry Kane would be playing for another team by now, probably Real Madrid.

this short clip just goes to prove yet again how dishonest agents can be and that their real interest is looking after themselves.

He was on talksport a few months ago saying gareth bale was perfectly happy to be playing for madrid. Here he is claiming he was sad :(

He also claims that money wasn't a factor in Bale's decision to return....what about the million squid per week China deal that broke down last year? Also, to my knowledge Bale hasn't taken a pay cut to return

Very true , it was just the way Barnett was doing it all publicly on TV in Spain , most transfers are done behind closed doors not on TV but Bale obviously gave his consent for the agent to do what he did. We shall have to see how Bale performs seven years on , let's hope his free kicks are the same .

It is subjective, but Bale in a recent interview said that he still had his pace and you would think he is the best judge of that. I agree that the experience he now has is invaluable and if he can stay injury free, we will have a serious player on our hands. His finishing has always been fantastic and I'm sure he still has that. Alastair Gold also said in a recent article that Bale has been impressing staff and players behind the scenes with his quality and effort in training. Obviously we don't know where that info has come from but with Alastair regularly acting as the clubs mouthpiece, you would think it is reliable.

I disagree with this, he's a brilliant agent because he's not out for himself but he's looking after his client big time. He had to take the position that Bale was happy to stay at Madrid, he always focused specifically on loving the city and his family being settled because he needed to put pressure on Madrid to say, we're prepared to see out this contract if you don't compromise.

What he's achieved by doing that is getting Bale the move he wants and Bale still has his big fat Madrid salary. He has engineered a brilliant deal for his client. Regardless of what we think of him as an individual or agents in general, he has done right by Bale.

Um, no he's not.

31 goals, and more than half of them were scored from outside of the box. He single-handedly almost dragged an extremely mediocre Spurs team into the top 4 by pulling all these unbelievable goals out of nowhere.

He has scored over 100 goals for Real Madrid and won a few decent trophies with them, being the most influential player in a number of finals.

All that while being treated poorly by the club and fans.

That experience and winning mentality is badly needed at our club and now with his head in the right place and hopefully fewer niggling injuries ( just look at Hazard at Madrid ) I am really excited about him coming back into our side as he is now a genuine world class player and we don't usually have many of them at Tottenham.

We don't usually have many but we've got at least three at the moment four if you include the French world cup winning captain.
It's quite spine tingling isn't it.

Laughable to suggest he’s ‘far better’ now. I’ve watched enough of him at Madrid to temper my expectations in terms of the player we’re getting back.

If people are seriously expecting a better player than the phenomenon who turned out for us under AVB they are going to be very disappointed.
