Reckon Gareth will be on the bench for quite a while and restricted to cameo appearances, last game he played in was in June , since then unused sub on bench, will he be up to the physical challenge of the PL as opposed to La Liga ? .

I think you're slightly underestimating his natural athleticism. The guy is a freak and probably would have excelled at whatever sport he chose. Granted he's 31, but you don't become a carthorse over night and we aren't expecting 80 yard sprints anymore.

I can see him coming off the bench against West Ham but nailing down the position from then onwards (minus the first few midweek games).

Still shy and gets embarrassed to big himself up. I like that in a player who has played with and against the best and scored beautiful goals that won the champion’s league in far from his ideal situation. I always feel Mourinho will start with the best team for that game and the next game in mind. No nonsense from him approach. If Bale is ready, I think Mourinho will start him even if he plays 45-60 minutes.
