That plus Levy has plans for the £200m we’ll get for Kane. 25m into the team. 50m to the stadium. 70m to his pocket. 50m to Lewis’ pocket. 5m bonus to Levy at the end of the year.

Levy deserves a lot of the flak he gets fur frugality, but I don’t think there’s evidence of him selling players and not reinvesting. Reinvesting poorly maybe, but I think generally when he’s sold a player it’s gone back into the team.

Knowing Levy he will be clinging to his tried and tested...... Player wants us, club need to get rid so I'll hold out till the death to squeeze a few sheckles out of the deal.

Won't work with this one from what I hear because both Bale camp and Madrid have already moved as far as they are willing to.

Things do change so pinch of salt and all that, but considering Levy's love of a bargain deal, he won't get a player of Bales profile for this price any time soon.

I don't believe we are flitting from player to player as far as ST is concerned. That's just how it looks.
Pleased to see you’re (seemingly) calm about the striker, because that’s what we need to hit par as far as I’m concerned. Bale will tell us a lot about whether or not we’ll ever be able to get to the top of the ladder with Levy, because if he can’t bring himself to go for it on this occasion then I can’t see when he ever will.

FWIW, sky bet now have Sancho (1/3 to stay at Dortmund (vs 9/4 to go to Utd) and Utd a ball hair in front of us to sign Bale (2/1 vs 9/4).

Appreciate odds dont necessarily mean anything other than gambling market sentiment but its the first time both odds have flipped this way since the window opened. Does suggest expectation of Bale leaving one way or another which is ultimately exciting itself.

They mean fuck all.

Christ, he's so clueless.

Probably finish below Wolves, Everton and Leeds this season. We just don’t have the same ambition. I am actually getting sick of Levy and how many fingers he has in each pie. Might as well change the thread title to the Bale not coming home.’

Quite simply if we don't push on massively HK is gone next Sumner. For me it's take a calculated risk now on Bale and a decent CF or that will be the reality.

Every transfer has an element of risk, and the time is running out on getting this one done. Bale preference is us, but they are speaking now to two other teams as well. The financial position is pretty much set and not likely to change regardless of what else happens, so a decision from DL is all that is required.
You'd like to think that Harry has communicated as much to Levy himself. If we don't make serious strides forward I don't think any fan would begrudge Harry moving on to somewhere where he can challenge for honours. Most of us would quite like to go with him, if only that damn club allegiance didn't get in the way.

Bale seems like a no brainer based on what we've heard about the deal. We have the opportunity to bring a world class footballer to the club, who wants to play for us. If we don't do it now, we're showing a distinct lack of ambition to our existing players and supporters (unless we're spending big elsewhere but that sounds unlikely).

This either happens pretty quickly as Bale camp won't have patience for levy-ball if other teams interested.

Levy will probably find out United have taken the deal he had on the table for Bale, match it, only for Madrid to then ask for a little more.

Doesn’t sound like this will drag on for too much longer, unless other teams decide they don’t want him. Levy needs to bite the bullet. Would be a massive lift.

If we do end up selling Kane next summer then i'm guessing that's rip it up and start again territory with Mourinho leaving too. It would cost Levy a lot more money than it would bringing in a couple of quality players in now imo.

From Trix's updates, it sounds more like we have a preferential deal on the table, waiting to be signed..........if only Levy would get his pen out....

This is what happened. Levy went home, had a few Chardonnay’s, watched vids of the Bale of old and got all moist and misty eyed. Prob did a drunken text or few, then woke up the next morning and checked his phone.

When he realised what he’d done he denied all knowledge of it, deleted the text and GB/RM number (although he does have the numbers stashed on another device) and moved on with his life like it never happened.

Done that with exes before (I'm sure plenty of us have!) - finally get rid of a psycho then either get drunk or stiff and think it's a great idea to get in contact with them. Next thing you know they're arranging to come round and you're desperately trying to reverse time back to before you thought it was a good idea

Yes, because that's exactly what happened the last time we sold a player for a world record fee.

That’s assuming Levy does what it takes to keep us where we are which he wont. We lose Kane and we’re mid table at best.

The scary thing is that their will probably be no re-build, not with Levy and Enic at the helm.

He simply has to get Bale, whatever the risk. Whatever striker we end up with isn't gonna light up our squad, Bale will.

If we lose Kane in the summer Levy needs to be tarred & feathered and then run out of town on a rail.

So the question is, will signing Bale make us challenge for major honours? If yes, Kane stays, if no he’s off. Personally I don’t think signing Bale makes us into league contenders. More like it takes us from a likely 5th-8th place finish into, perhaps, the top 4. And that’s assuming he stays fit, which he won’t.

Kane has given us more than enough and it will break my heart when he leaves (much more so than Bale ooe Modric or whoever) but he deserves to have some silver wear before his career ends and at the moment it looks like he’s wasting his time with us with regards to winning trophies. Let’s hope we can win something and he decides to give us more time but I won’t blame him if not.

Of course we will be, we'll sell off all the assets and have to start again which as a fan is bollocks, but if you're a money man, it's a wet dream.

can't blame him either, he would have my 100% backing if he left, he's given us so much and loyalty also.
