Well, let's pretend this is hypothetically possible and can be done. Leaving it to a choice for the player between Spurs and Man Utd. Who would he go with? I think it would be us.

I don't believe that CL would be a deal breaker. Not at this stage of his career. Been there, done that. He has nothing to prove and nor does he have a burning desire to show what he can do at that level.

At this point of his career, he's is playing more for the fun of playing and the money.

No idea if the lad is happy or not. However, if he was wanting to feel the love again, then coming back makes a lot of sense.

Will it happen? Highly unlikely. As it's clear that this is all a smokescreen to obfuscate our real target: Troy Deeny.

:sneaky:
I'd be amazed if United were in for him. They can throw the money at Sancho and watch him become a £200m player for them.

I would love United to sign more players, even Bale in addition to Sancho if they want. Hypocritical gaffer like Lampard. Singing to the tune of developing the youngsters and blooding them, yet jump on every chance to sign all other players in their prime. Hope these youngsters wake up and stop being so motivating to play now when injuries hit them.

If 600k/week is his base, then it's still a non starter. If his base is 400-450k plus bonuses, then it starts to get interesting.

I still have doubts that he'd be worth it, and I'll probably wind up regretting having ever posted in this thread...

So Utd will match our offer of a loan? How does that work?
I can't help but think Real would rather loan to us than a potential CL opponent
Fuck it, this is happening. Only Daniel Levy can make Real Madrid pay us to take Bale back.

Imagine seeing Kane and Bale in the same team. Two greatest Tottenham players in my lifetime linking up. It's not happening but it's nice to think about

more likely scenario is that they never play together because one, or both, will be on the injury list.

I think he’s leaving Madrid this window, the talk from him is too strong to remain there. I’d imagine they’re desperate to get him out the door, the problem is this desperation could not only mean we could afford him but plenty others could too. Surely other clubs who are in the CL would pay half his wages in order to get him into their side/squad.
I think it’s the first time the link is actually realistic but I just don’t see us being the most attractive option who will go for him.

If he comes back to the PL, it's to United IMO. Plays for the same team as his hero Giggs and he's a hop, skip and a jump from his beloved Wales.

If we were able to get Bale would you be happy with not getting a Striker. Bale & Son essentially play there when Kane is injured?

Sorry if this has been answered already, but what's the Tax situation?
Does bale earn £600k before or after Tax at Madrid? Is the tax in Spain more than what it is in England?
Also, assuming Real are happy to pay half his wages, there is no mention of a transfer fee. I would guess they would want a fee?

rumour is its before tax. Tax in spain is generally higher than the uk, and also they have a wealth tax.

However, in the past you had the Beckham law, which is taxed at a fixed rate and would be considerably less in tax than in the uk. Nevertheless, it appears that athletes are now not allowed to claim under this law, though a good accountant might see to that, so it means that Bale is likely to be paying more. Madrid has essentially removed the wealth tax there, so he is likely to be paying a little more in spain but nothing earth shattering (the top rate is the same but comes in earlier, council tax is also mostly covered in a different way which makes it pretty complex to calculate)
