Pretty sure José had Peppa Pig on. The amount of times I turn off the telly in exactly the same way any given day...

That reason would be licensing and intellectual property laws.

They do it on pretty much every other scene that involves new/media stuff, so it still doesn't make sense. It's pretty much ubiquitous for clubs to have SSN on the TVs everywhere and that is shown in other scenes - this one just seems to be the exception, which is why I think it raises the question of authenticity.

Anyone would try to wet their toothbrush before putting toothpaste on it?

Was a bit bizarre that conversation. Alli came across as quite immature and annoying. Not in a "he's a prick" way or that he's in any way nasty, just that he's a young lad that earned a lot and shot to the top very quickly and really has little experience of the real world. When he hit KWP's car, there didn't seem to be much remorse, he just looked to be finding excuses to mask his embarrassment. That said, he's in his early 20s...weren't we all a bit like that?

Some first thoughts, probably none of them that original....a bit like All or Nothing.....Boom!! Boom!

* first episode quite dull and a bit end of season DVD about it.
* really disappointed that Pochettino was a 15 minute footnote to the season. Huge moment for all of us, but nothing from Amazon, really wanted to see a Poch team talk, Poch training, talking to players etc, and there was nothing really, so that part of the story is not told at all. I am going to guess Poch had told the Amazon people where they could stick their cameras
* Levy clearly negotiated a lot of control on access, it’s pure PR any scene that involves him. I mean, going on about how he passionately cares about the neighbourhood, which I guess explains why he was trying to move us to Stratford
* I am going to guess the total absence of key characters like Hugo or Ndombele is because they will feature more later on....if not...just weird.
* it isn’t going to be a “documentary“ as traditionally understood is it. I mean it isn’t an in-depth investigation to what happened during this season
* mourinho telling Harry he will make him more of a celebrity basically. Which has synergy with the Amazon focus on him as “leader”.
* the Man Utd game post game meeting. Harry sounds off about other players not trying hard enough....and then they don’t show what other players said in response to that comment. Gives the whole doc a sanitised airbrushed feel. It’s not even half the story a lot of the time
* maybe not surprising but Mourinho is a powerful character and a big personality. Noting that he keeps telling players to play and express themselves...and also talks a lot about clean sheets...clearly a lot of our players were uncertain how to do both
* I thought the Dele nagging KWP on the plane after pranging into KWP’s car was maybe a bit more significant than it seemed. Hinting at problems in terms of squad unity
* Vertonghen veering toward an existential crisis made me feel very sad!
* Mourinho telling the players to be c***s, Son clearly pondering this instruction a lot, and then applying the learning by getting sent off for handbags against Chelea (of course not a word from Amazon about rudigdr and all the fall out from that game)
* I find it all fascinating.but then I am a Spurs fan, not sure this will be a ‘must see’ for fans of other teams
* Sunderland till I die still the best of these types of series
  • Re Pochettino, I’m pretty pleased that he’s not prominent, especially when it comes to his sacking, as I can’t think how anything involving Pochettino from this season would’ve been kind to his dignity and I’d rather not have his worst period with us highlighted for dramatic entertainment.
  • RE Levy, when he’s being interviewed what do you expect him to respond with? ‘Yeah... this is a money making venture, I actually thought I was buying a German bank when I signed for the purchase of THFCPLC’ . Your Stratford jibe is weird.
  • Hugo’s arm was broken during everything we’ve seen so far, Ndombele wasn’t even playing.
  • On the ‘sanitised’ aspects... do you really want to see footage which could be damaging to the club. I personally think it’s quite likely that Kane goes unchallenged when he has a go, as he’s clearly not a hypocrite. Additionally, there’s a finite amount of footage each episode can contain in what, 45 minutes?
  • Dele and KWP are pretty much best mates. I wouldn’t read much into that other than it being the only semi interesting footage from a two hour flight.
  • I agree that I’d have preferred some of the Rudiger fall out in there too but in the current climate, even though Rudiger’s claim was at best impossible to prove and at worst made up (note, this is not my opinion, I’m just presenting both ends of the spectrum), it would be bold and potentially dangerous for amazon to touch that incident at all.
  • Agree that I’m not sure it’s particularly riveting unless you have a vested interest. I’d have to see what my other mates think of it. My wife likes it but that’s because she finds Jose hilarious.
All in all I’m enjoying it for what it is. I like the humanising of various players and I like the insight into Jose which I hope dispels various myths. It’s good to see how much Mourinho empowers players and I also feel a bit more sympathy for Eriksen than I perhaps did at the time. I’m not convinced I’m sad as such re Vertonghen, much as I love him, because I think his career with us ended with less of a downturn than Dembele or King, and he’s now gone on to an enviable opportunity for any young man. Regarding Levy, it’s strange to get any camera time of him given how reclusive he tends to be, but I can’t blame him for maybe trying to garner some empathy from viewers as he must be aware how much negative opinion there is about him and like with any of us, it’s probably not a nice feeling.

That's me trying to work at home, but for various different theme songs that burrow into your head when they're on 10 times a day

It's good how they try to create an atmosphere by having the cleaners look like they are all sullenly cleaning the managers office ready for Jose's arrival...his crates can already be seen in the corner.

But I guess that's silly to suggest that bit was staged and for the cameras. Probably just "slightly edited". :cautious:

The Dier section killed me, to lead into it with Jose saying Dier is the only one in the squad with any fight, how he had tried to sign him before and then to crush him by dragging him off after 30mins.

Seeing the whole squad celebrating and congratulating each other on the comeback while in the background Dier is wallowing in internalised rage and self pity was tough to watch.

I’m surprised how passive they all are in 1:1 meetings with Jose.

When he walks into his office SSN is clearly on the tv but believe what you want

Yes you can, but when the scene goes back to him and he's making notes and listening to the Non-Sky Sports News audio, the TV is not shown. People could also watch it back and see if the TV is even on when he switches it off and says "fuck off" but that would open up a whole can of worms...

All part of the psychology.

"You think you're good enough and get to choose where you play? You have to prove it. I'll give you a chance"

Next match, off in 30

"You didn't prove it, and I don't f*** about. We won after I did it. Everything is back on you. Now prove it".

Poch wouldn't have subbed him off until the 89th and that said "I trust you", which isn't a kick up the arse some of them need. Tough love is essential once you're an experienced player.

The thing that made me laugh the hardest was Mourinho unpacking his belongings from the crate on the floor and one of his prized possessions was the signed photo of the ultimate image of shithousery on a football field of Vinnie Jones grabbing Gascoigne by the balls....

I'm with Dele on this one.
Water on brush
Toothpaste
Water
Brush
The only problem with this is
that if you don't adjust the water strength
the toothpaste disappears down the plughole.
Not all taps
are easily adjustable.
been in touch with Dele about this
and he replied
'Don't be so fucking stupid'
But we can only speak from experience.

Jose was bang on with his initial thoughts. The boys are too nice. Good players, can win games, but they aren't (or weren't at the time) aggressive enough on the pitch.

RE Dier and Olympiacos I can't imagine how he must have felt though you could see it in his face at half time and at the end of the game. But as we all know post lockdown he stepped up and Mourinho sees him as a key player.

Seeing Sonny so upset after the red card v Chelsea was not right. He really feels the game and wants to win for us. That guy is just too pure. We need to win a trophy just so I can see that smile again.

The show’s producers were on The Fighting Cock last week and said a lot of the indoor scenes used tiny cameras that were very easy for the players and staff to forget were even there. Heavily edited, sure, but I reckon most of the fly-on-the-wall type stuff is genuine.

i think a lot of the speeches are staged, they lack conviction
Over the years I’ve seen a few reality tv shows filmed and everything is staged to fuck and it’s passed of as reality

100%!!!!

Had this debate with my fiancee afterwards, I couldn't believe she didn't put water on again after the paste. I'm seriously contemplating our relationship now, the whole thing feels like a lie.

I hadn't spotted the crates but my wife did.
