Yeah true, although shirt sales and sponsorship deals can soften some of that.
I suppose it’s a question of, is that outlay the price to get us as a squad to win things and get that winning mentality and momentum to challenge, which then would be money worth spent.

Ah the old "they'll make that back in shirt sales" argument. I thought that had been put to bed in about 2004?

Because he needs a club willing to pay a large % of his obscene wages.

When we bought Adebayor he had 2 years left on his City contract. As he wasn't willing to take a pay cut we paid him around £85k a week and for the 1st 2 years City paid the rest.

To buy Bale a club will need to pay a large percentage of his salary. Given his astronomical wage that is a lot of money to most clubs.

I don't believe the deal is viable but I do believe if we agreed a deal with Real so Bale wouldn't lose any money he would join us.

This is where I get the £60mill figure from.
Real Madrid have reported to want around £15million as a transfer fee, then with regards to wages it is reported Bale is on around £15mill a year. Give him a 3 year contract and our total outlay for the transfer is gonna be around £60mil.

Which is over a tenth of our annual turnover. Not profit, turnover.

It is widely reported, and a quick google search will confirm this, that Gareth Bale earns approx £350K/per week (net), or £600K/week before taxes. Real Madrid´s outlay is in other words £31.2 million. Per year.

I don´t know how taxes work in the UK when you´re on that kind of money, but for Gareth Bale to pocket the same amount of money (the net £350k/w) an English club would probably have to pay the something in the same area as RM does now (£600k/w = £31.2M/y).

Not if you don't pay the tax. And you can just say you're a footballer and that you're good at football and the authorities go "OK, lol, dnt wrry x"

I've wasted far too much energy on this is the past. I'm done now. Plus it made more sense in prior seasons, now there are major concerns about his current playing level as well as covid knocking finances.

What is true is that Real Madrid are absolute morons. Not letting him go that summer he helped them win the 3rd CL on the bounce was an epic mistake, costing them £60m in wages for no perceptible return, especially this season where he never plays and just trolls them in the stands.

Bale doesn't care about Spurs. The only sentimentality is from us fans.

This transfer not happening. It's a waste of everyone's time and energy.

Feel free to point me towards a thread about football transfers that is not a ‘waste of everyone's time and energy’. 99% of the players mentioned on the transfer forum aren’t happening.

If you don’t care about this thread, then don’t open it.

haha

Shirt sales will make this, no it won't because they pay that, this is taxed, that isn't taxed and the cost of a walnut whip has doubled.

Despite noises to the contrary it's blatantly obvious that whatever side of the argument you sit, none of you have an actual fucking clue

If you're looking for wisdom, it's in short supply in this thread.

Well, until now :cautious:

I will never understand those of you who don't like people talking about it. If you don't, then why are you in this thread? It's highly unlikely, yes, but we can talk about it. It doesn't harm you in any way does it?

People get very offended on here by threads they feel shouldnt exist or even worse dare to be on a part of the forum they don't deem appropriate.

A quick google search will give you a click bait figure. If you actually look into the figures, he is on around £350k per week after tax (£18mil per year), with endorsements/sponsorship deals on top adding an additional £10mil a year with the likes of Adidas, EA Sports, Lucozade, BT Sport, Nissan Motor, Konami and Foot Locker etc

I imagine he’d love the extra space having Bale in the team would create, along with how well he Son, and Bale would dove tail in attack. The three of them would score oodles of goals.

Would they all play together that much though? Harry and Garry have both had a series of injuries over the years and both miss good sections of the season. Seeing those 3 in a line up against the top teams would be amazing but the interchange with our other forwards would be pretty potent too. All goes to having a solid back 4 and a good DM. Regarding Bale i watched his prem highlights on Sky yesterday and it made me sad to think of such a talent being missing from football for the last two years while in his peak. I hope he goes somewhere and plays for the next 2-3 seasons, wherever it is - otherwise its just a complete waste and there will always be a "what if" around him despite his ridiculous trophy cabinet.
