English, good character, experienced winner, better, younger and cheaper than Vorm...why are people complaining again?

If there were rumours that we were looking to sell Gazzanigga I'd understand it a bit more (even though I think Gazza isn't that great) but there aren't any so what's the fuss about?

I think they can, but I think its more physically taxing than people give it credit for. Not even including the jumping and diving around involved.

As Buffon mentioned, the 6 yard box, is the size of a fairly large kitchen, while the 18yard box is the size of a large flat. A goalkeeper should be moving, and sometimes scurrying across that space. A premier league goalkeeper travels around 4-5 kms per 90 minutes. Which is a fair workout, though I agree not physically that taxing. Keep in mind that a lot of this isn't just walking, but mostly a series of small agile movements, shifting your body across this apartment sized space.

I used to play in goal, and after basically no exercise for 5 years, I played in goal for the first time for a few matches (if you could call a kick about with the wolfsberger youth team a match). It killed me. Which was a bit of a warning sign. But, my point is it's still a physical thing, if you do it properly. Though, It's not particularly against what you were saying.

The reason why I think we wont see a goalkeeper play twice in a row is more likely to do with training regimes than physical capacity though. I would be surprised if we didn't rotate.

My original comment about playing every day was tongue in cheek, but a GK should have no problem playing 3 games in a week. We certainly do not need to use all 3 GKs in rotation, which I think could be detrimental for the team, and when forced to rotate the outfield players so much some consistency would be good.

The truth is Hart played poorly for both West Ham and Burnley since returning to England: he had a 65% save percentage and conceded 2 a game for Burnley. Obviously his defense wasn’t great but he was not good by any metric.

the other truth is, he’s English, going to play ~5 matches for us, and a great personality in the dressing room. Why people are losing their heads over this I’ve no idea. If signing Hart means we can fit in a non-English first team player with the HG quota it’s already a massive upgrade over Vorm

Great move. Possibly the best thing we could have done to fill our 3rd keeper slot.

A good comparison would be to get people to compare how far they can run versus how far they and leopard crawl.

Goalkeepers spend more time jumping on the floor than any other player on the pitch. It's a full-body work out.

Unless of course they're playing for or against the current United side, then the difference is marginal.

Free transfer, hg, experienced, more than good enough back up keeper, also earning £11k Per week less than what Vorm was earning. Music to DL ears ?

Is Joe Hart the first player since potentially Saha to have won the PL in our squad? That can’t be true, surely. I must be missing someone?

Would it be a stretch to think maybe levy and mourinho get on over transfers as mourinho is pragmatic and accepting of the clubs stature compared to the last few windows?

feels like signing a crazy cheerleader who likes a drink or two at the oddd party. this squad is passive enough to need a bit of that.

Homegrown and earning less than Vorm! Case closed.

Let’s not overthink this, if he plays more than two games next year it will be because something went terribly wrong.

If he's playing and not doing well... Stop playing games with my Hart!
Not sure if this one will land outside of SA, but I'm looking forward to the energy he'll bring to the squad. We all know about the spirit of the great Hart, after all.
