The money bags clubs annoy me. We'd have probably got Ake for less but would've had to wait until the end of the window, but being able to just say to a club "name your price" and paying it gives them such an advantage. A shame that it is lost on their supporters.

A shame that it is lost on a lot of our supporters too...

£41m for ake in any market seems too much, let alone this one
I’d be willing to bet the “41m” is greatly inflated by including some wildly optimistic add-ons. Bournemouth saw that their lack of funds had been publicized and people were expecting to pick them apart for pennies. They needed to change that perception to hold any cards at all in negotiating the next few departures.

My concern is, how does this affect the rest of the market? You see a player like Ake go for 41 million then they inflate the market. Not only that but suddenly Bournemouth aren't as desperate to sell Wilson on the cheap knowing they've already made a large dent in the debt.

I think they're in much deeper trouble. £40m isn't near enough to ease their troubles.

No, apparently only £1m in add ons.

Says the fan of the 10th richest club in the world.

We're 8th actually, according to Deloitte.

It's not really a useful figure though as it is ranked in revenue - it doesn't take any consideration into pre-existing cash-at-hand and, ironically, it is often the unprofitable clubs that are simply backed by a wealthy owner who are wasteful with money (Everton, Villa)

If this is what you’re referring too, it‘s the most valuable not the richest.
I’d imagine the debt/value percentage is a bigger indicator of ‘richness’ in the sense of money to burn, and we don’t look any where near the top 10 of that.

Not much new but seems confirmation he wants to leave.

Callum Wilson tells Bournemouth team-mates he needs Premier League football to maintain England chances

England striker Callum Wilson has told his Bournemouth team-mates he wants to play in the Premier League next season to keep his place in the England squad.

The 28 year-old was relegated to the Championship on the final day of the season and his club are assessing which players can join Nathan Ake, who is heading to Manchester City, in leaving the Vitality Stadium for the right deal.

Wilson, who scored nine goals last season, is likely to attract interest during the summer transfer window and his team-mates believe he intends to stay in the top flight should an offer arrive.

Gareth Southgate picked Wilson in his last England squad back in November, before football’s closure for the coronavirus pandemic and the European Championships getting pushed back until 2021.

Wilson is also competing with Tammy Abraham as one of the out-and-out strikers to support Harry Kane, while Danny Ings is also back on Southgate’s radar after his 25 goals for Southampton this season.

After scoring on his debut against USA in November 2018, Wilson has gone on to earn another three caps, coming on as a substitute. With the increased competition in Southgate’s squad, staying in the Premier League would maximise his chances of playing at the Euros.

Tottenham are looking for a striker this summer. They have never replaced Fernando Llorente, who was back-up to Kane when Tottenham reached the Champions League final last season.

Llorente was more of a target-man striker, which would be Jose Mourinho’s preference for a forward signing, although Wilson could provide a different threat to the Spaniard, getting behind defences and stretching the pitch.

West Ham United are also in the market for a striker, while Newcastle are keen to bolster their attack but there is uncertainty over their transfer plans following the collapse of the takeover by a Saudi Arabian-backed consortium.

Ake is set to leave for the Etihad Stadium in a deal worth £41 million and the other player likely to leave Bournemouth is Josh King, who has only one season left on his current contract.

Ake joined Chelsea academy age 15 therefore he is homegrown for the same reason Sigurdsson is.

But on topic, Callum Wilson makes a lot of sense, especially if the fee will be ~£10m.

At 10-15m it seems an obvious signing. Affordable wages, good goal scoring record, can play in a 2 or up front alone, won't expect every minute, good move for the player himself.

He's unlikely to make the England squad if he goes to us IMO.

Yeah if his objective is to find a club where he can realistically vie for England selection he'll be looking for a club where he has a legitimate chance to start every week. Look at what moving from Liverpool to Southampton has done for Ings, who surely would have been called up had the Euros gone forward this summer. He'll probably prefer the likes of Newcastle, Palace etc. over us on that basis, IMO.
