Brooks only joined Bournemouth the summer just gone right? He won't be cheap, though probably still cheaper than Grealish. I might even prefer him tbh.

Jose will sell one of lamela, moura and sissoko, and will bring willian before investing money on brooks/cantwell/grealish ...
This makes total sense, but are there any credible media links between us and Willian? Understandable that Jose would want to bring him in though.

Saying David Brooks is better than Jack Grealish is just astonishing to me. It's like thinking Maddison is better than De Bruyne. I think Grealish has created the most chances from open play in the entire league. Yet he's not as good as David Brooks! If we want to create more, then I think it just might be advisable to sign Grealish over Brooks, given the opportunity.

I like Brooks but I agree. He also seems more capable of playing deeper than either Brooks or Maddison. I think Grealish will be an interesting one to watch this summer.

With Pogba and Fernandes at Utd they may well step out of the bidding. I can't see him staying at Villa if they go down. Could end up in a situation where none of the top 6 are in for him, which would leave the likes of Leicester and Everton as his only options.

I have a horrible feeling he'll go to the Gooners. I never really thought much of him until we were close to buying him under Poch. At that time some of his full match compilations were posted on YT from the start of that season and I watched those and recognized what a talent he is. I was so disappointed when Villa won promotion as I knew it meant he'd stay with them. I think City will go for him, as he's that level in my opinion, but if they don't and Utd sign Sancho plus keep Pogba, then there aren't too many options. That should mean we are next in line, but I wonder if we are even after another attacking mid. Then you look at Arsenals squad and they have a glaring hole in that department as Ozil is done. Though I could see them trying for Isco on loan. Isco is supposed to be past it, but he played really well against City recently, so I think someone is going to get a great deal there.

Maybe Arsenal if they can't get Ceballos I suppose, or Chelsea if Barkley goes. I'd like to think we'd step in if Arsenal were negotiating a reasonably priced deal. Liverpool could be a wild card for him, I'm not sure City would but they do have to be careful of their homegrown quotas.

I still think Villa may struggle to get a good price for him, whilst simultaneously knowing it would be unfair on Grealish to make him stay and play in the second tier.

If Jose isn’t sold on Aarons, I’d be a bit worried if we signed him. I rate the lad, but I’m not the one picking the team, and I would rather we didn’t have another situation like the one with Sess where the manager doesn’t trust them enough to play.

Hard to say he’s better just different and probably more realistic. I really like Grealish and suggested him before we were even linked but he does spend a lot of time on the ball and Villa afford him that. I’m not surprised by the numbers because everything goes through him at Villa especially after McGinns injury. I think he’d be a great player to have deeper for us being able to take the ball comfortably from the CB’s but further forward maybe just another player who holds on to the ball a tad to long.

It’s easy to forget how highly thought of Brooks was before his injury. It looked like he would go to the top and was higher rated than Grealish so shows he’s got massive potential. I don’t think his injury was anything cartilage or muscle related so there is a very good chance he can get back up to that level and beyond. All things being equal I would take Grealish and he can play deep too but I do think Brooks could be a very clever signing

Obviously he wasn't more highly rated by us, as at the time Brooks went to Bournemouth we tried to buy Grealish! Brooks also went for less money than the fee we wanted to pay for Grealish.

I'd be stunned if, in the history of the Prem, a player from a relegated team has made the most open play chances in the Prem. It's so much harder to create in a poor team. I'd wager, that every single season, the most open play chances are created by a player from a CL club. I'd surprised if there was a single example when that wasn't the case.

If Jose doesn't rate him then we shouldn't buy him.
Jose said himself he didn't think the club should sign Bergwijn and admitted he was wrong. *Shrug* Every transfer should be taken on its own merit and not overly weighted to what the manager wants. Power dynamics is a difficult thing to balance.

He wanted a striker over a winger

When we were linked with Aarons last season, I started following him in the Championship and he looked sensational. Much like with Grealish the season before, I was disappointed they got promoted, as it meant he'd stay with them. But there is no doubt, that he's physically struggled in the Prem. His talent is without question, but is he going to be anymore ready to compete by October? Would he not end up just sitting on our bench like Sessegnon? I can't see us buying to loan him out.

In the next year or two we'll see if he's going to be able to adjust to the Prem and if he does, there is a real challenge to Trent Alexander Arnold (who England are so lucky to have). But I'm not convinced we are the ideal place for him to develop right now. He's a risk for anyone and needs to go somewhere where he'll play every week. I think many under estimate how talented he is, but there has to be a reason why we didn't sign him when he trained with us before moving to Norwich and I suspect it's doubts over his size to be a defender in this league. If we bought him I'd be far from disappointed, as I think he's brilliantly talented, but I'd be concerned if the plan was for him to be our first choice next season and also don't like the idea of him being a back up as I think he needs to play every single week in the Prem, to see if he can start to cope better physically to be a better defender.
