Why dont fans who think this go down the road to the Library, or whatever they call it these days. L' Arse.
Maybe the break and new a Manager who wont play robbo every game regardless of form will do Robbo some good. He can still be a great keeper with silly mistakes cut out of his game.
All keepers have bad spells, Barthez had them at Man Utd, and Lehmann has had them recently as well. But with the right people around him he will get back to form.
Good point Bugsdad can't disagree with that- though it's a hell of any indictment upon our midfield that we're relying on Robbo to create our chances! I really hope Robbo turns it round because he seems to have a genuine affection for the club and the fans but theres only so many howlers you can be guilty of surely??!
Maybe you should look at all the goals we've conceded this season and ask yourself just how many have been 100%, incontrovertibly, Robbo's fault. I'd say the first you could really pin on him was Arsenal's equaliser, and then we had a whole lot come along at once in the Villa game. Some of the others he might or might not have done better with, but he certainly wasn't the sole culprit (Everton's first, for example—was that Gardner's fault, or should Robbo have come out?).
Blame where blame is due is one thing, and yes, we all know that crosses have always been something of an Achilles Heel. What troubles me is that some of us are blaming every goal we've conceded on Robbo, which is both ridiculous and unfair. He's hardly the only keeper to have made several major fuck-ups this season (does no-one watch MOTD?), but the millstone of being 'England's No. 1' means that every error he makes is going to be splattered across the back page of every paper in the land. I really do wish McClown would drop him.
Cerny has been OK, and you can only blame him for Getafe's equaliser and maybe Anorthosis' consolation goal. Several people rushed to defend him for the latter, blaming (correctly) Dawson and Kaboul for the chance in the first place, and then claiming Cerny was unsighted; well, maybe he was, but if that had been Robbo he would have been slaughtered. That's what annoys me.
Get a decent coach in (and maybe Suckling will do fine, who knows?) and work on the crosses and Robbo will be OK. It's pretty obvious his confidence is shot and the enforced break will have done him good. And if the defence can afford him (or Cerny) better protection, we might start seeing an improvement.
3 words that strike fear into me:
'Bomber, Daddy's home'.
I can't go into too much detail as it brings back painful memories. But thanks threadstarter, thanks a bunch for bringing all these nasty thoughts right back into my head. Just as i was beginning to forget all about it and start a new life... I hate you daddy. I HATE YOU.
*for LittleAaronLennon - the above was a joke*

I suspect that if you compare our points per games ratio with Robbo against the ratio with Cerny over the past 2-3 seasons the ratio when Robbo pays is far better.
Lets be honest, Cerny is shit.
He may be a goal keeping liability but he would not have let in any more goals than Cerny did in the last two games .The plus side to Robbos play is that he is probably our most creative player and has more assists than the whole of our midfield put together this season (possibly a slight exageration, but not by much). So Cerny hasnt made any world class saves in his two matches, has let in the same amount of goals as Robbo would have ,but his kicking is nowhere as good.
