Hope your right but saying he’s 23 is not like saying he’s 19/20...

The rest I’ll grant you and hope he really improves. I just worry a little from what we’ve seen so far
Just out of curiosity, and not having a dig, but have you watched much of him before? It took him almost half a season to warm up at Betis but he is extremely talented. His skills won't come through until he learns the league, the pace etc. But I have very little doubt he will become an important player for us and I have watched a lot of him over the past few seasons.

Like him. His ideas are needed. Just like Lamela his 100% left footed game annoys me a bit. All defenders in the league will soon know his right leg is there for standing reasons.

Clearly needs to play centrally or on the left. When he's played on the right for us (like tonight) he's so one-footed that unless somebody is overlapping he needs to check back inside to make a pass. It slows the attack down every time.

Played well. Nice to have him and Lamela in the team playing quick one touch passes.

The 90 minutes will do him the world of good as he is way short of match fitness.

I can only echo what was said the other day...why is it only lefties who get accused of being too one footed!? It's weird.
In spite of my comment above, I agree with you. However, while there are relatively few genuinely two-footed players, most are adequate with their weaker foot. Le Celso's is just for standing on.

Just read a couple of pages and the consensus is that Gio was great tonight. I don't agree. He is clearly very talented and his effort - particularly closing down and tracking back - couldn't be faulted. His passing, however, was generally terrible. I don't blame him for this because he's hardly played and it will take him a while to adjust and integrate, but let's call it what it was.

fair but he was also trying to pass it quickly which we need. Our tempo was better asa result and we created more opportunities.I’d rather that than slow and ponderous but keeping possession.

Wonder how he is settling in, I thought he was looking for Lamela quite a bit tonight, wonder if they are mates.

To echo what others have said, I think he is slowly acclimatising to the league, his team mates etc.

I also think the complaints about misplaced passes are because he's trying to move the ball quickly - the same happens with Ndombele and again I think more time with the team will help with this.

We've had months of sideways passing and now in Gio and Tanguy we have two who look to move it forward quickly - happy days!

ofc, Lamela has helped a lot like Sissoko with Ndombele, new country and culture, doesnt speak English very well, a fellow countryman in Lamela has helped him settle in

His stats were solid par possession lost (21). Something you assume will be high due to the high risk passes he tries but that’s probably double you would expect.

His talent is obvious. Work rate is very good. Should be able to succeed here and pick up his fair share of goals and assists.

Agree with others that he made way too many sloppy passes tonight but hopefully that'll be phased out as he settles in.

I think he could make that tucked in RW position his own over Moura (or when Moura is filling in at ST). He gets involved in play and links things up, but also presses well. Can see that working nicely with Aurier overlapping him.

Agreed, probably because there's just less of them so it stands out more.

On the other hand, only left-footed players are able to have a "cultured left foot".

Tactically the team is a bit confused at the moment so no wonder Lo makes some rushed decisions, misplaced passes. Better understanding needed with more time. Eriksen doesn't help with his contribution but he is involved out of habit.

First half was worth being at the game for.
Movement, closing players down, quick passing making football seem easy - a joy to watch Spurs play football again.
Second half we played different with slight tweak in formation which meant Gio and Coco not as dominant.
Hope JM now realises he has a player on his hands here

I'd prefer a 75% pass success rate, for example, with positive incisive passing. Much better than the 98% pass success rates that get wheeled out for players who only ever pass it 5 yards back to the full backs.
