I'm concerned that we appear to be hijacking West Ham to get him, because I just automatically assume that any player who West Ham try to sign must be shit be default.
I think you're giving West Ham far too much credit. He was never going there. He's also be linked with other major clubs besides them.
That said, who a player is linked with doesn't define how good they are.

Should be giving GLC a chance in CM (which is his best position) but I fear that if this Fernandez deal goes through he'll get every chance going and GLC will get none. GLC could play at 10 as well but I wouldn't be surprised if Eriksen hangs around til the summer. Very frustrating that Mourinho won't use him and according to ITK doesn't rate him. Will be absolutely gutted if we lose his talent because Mourinho has blinkers on.

Crikey what's this just looking at my TV and I can see a scrolling news banner telling me that Tottenham are in pole position to sign a Portugal midfielder called Fernandes.
Don't worry Man utd fans it's not Bruno but rather Gedson Fernandes.
Apparently it's an 18 month loan with an option to buy for around £55m.

I have to disagree with that assumption, I think we have been quite lethargic in our scouting in the past, West Ham have picked up Felipe Anderson and Issa Diop this way in the past and I would not call them players shit! Also Lanzini if I'm not mistaken.

So not signing a promising young midfielder a couple of years ago means that signing one now is underwhelming? OK.
