I think we need a top notch defensive midfielder to protect the back four personally.

And probably a new fresher and younger centre back to partner Sanchez.

Plus Mouronho will work on the mentality.
We could have Dier and Wanyama in their prime and it wouldn't make a difference. The players in front of the full-backs so far this season, under both managers, haven't been doing a very good job. Sissoko was decent today at it - his defensing for the second goal was bad and he did somethin similar against West Ham last week - but Son was awful defensively again.

Which is a bit worrying, Surely Mourinho should be sorting out the defence right now. The attack is more about confidence and belief which surely isn't rocket science.
I think the defence is equally about confidence and belief. The team has been in terrible form for the best part of a year and rarely kept any clean sheets. With that hanging over them it's no wonder we're struggling to close out matches.

Is Kane really lazy, unfit or injured? Genuine question.
Why do you ask? Because he sometimes moves pretty slowly when getting into the box? It annoys me too but often all he is doing is trying to position himself for a cutback or a clearance that goes into his path.

Also. Lee Mason was absolutely awful all game. Lerma should have been booked and sent off twice. Filthy toe rag. Exactly the same as the game at their place last season.

What is Lerma's issue with us?! He's a drip in most of their other games.

Our defence is so poor. I'm also concerned about our ability to build attacks. Great on the counter and long ball. But we need to figure out how to slowly break down teams. Obv way to soon to judge. Hopefully Jose will sort this out.

For the supposed best league in the world we have some of the worst officiating. Its not like its once in a while, its all the time and its fucking infuriating.

Anyone explain how Wilson can be free in the middle of the box? No one near him ffs. Their first goal was pure bullshit, wasn't a foul, and VAR screwed us twice, but fuck me, can't keep conceding 2 goals every game. Ridiculous stuff

We played really well for most of that - looked absolutely fantastic going forward and extremely scary on the break. We do seem to give away silly fouls and struggle to keep concentration at the back for the full 90 mins though. Need that sorted.

Looks to me like the Alderweireld thread has done a runner but I thought even the assists aside (which were fantastic) he was great today, one moment he shut down Solanke was excellent but was really happy to see the display after earlier this week saying I wasn't feeling as confident in him this season, it was encouraging.

Superb from Dele, its what he does best. Making those runs, and scoring goals. When he's on his game, no other midfielder in the country, scores the goals he does. Fantastic for Sissoko, great finish, and not row z.

Defensively a bit wank still.

Great 3pts...............COYS!

Encouraging going forward But wasteful.

Worrying in defence which probably starts with the 2 in front of the back four.

You'd have to assume Mourinho will fix it.

I reckon it would as would mean we’d dominate midfield a lot more and means opposition would see less of the ball.

We were solid enough defensively before when Son was playing left side.

That 2016/17 with Wanyama-prime in midfield he was often one of the best performers in team and we were tonking
teams second half of that season.

Decent defensive midfielder and one of Ndombele, Lo Celso or Winks to nail spot alongside them.

Also not forgetting Skipp if given a chance on defensive midfield.

We will see how we get on against the bus parkers. But Jose will have known that Bournemouth will step out a bit and that the best way to hurt them was playing more direct.

All in all, a satisfactory game given where we were two weeks ago and the turmoil the team went thru emotionally. Going forward, players who switch off especially near the end of the game need to sit. The amount of space conceded to the Bournemouth players and the confusion on defensive coverage the last 20 minutes was horrid.
