Credit were it's due, he was good today.

Certainly will benefit from a run of games as all our full backs would.

I loved Poch but the over rotation of the full backs was something I never liked.

Still thought he over complicated several situations & made a reckless challenge jumping into the back of Snodgrass. But did more good then bad I guess.

Looked confident and clearly had fun out there, mugged off a few West Ham players. Not convincing defensively, but lacked a bit of support from Lucas.

It will be interesting to see if the fb tactics we used today are permanent or if they were just something Jose thought we needed against west ham/this game. Having one full back constantly press up the pitch while the other drops into a back three could be interesting. It would definitely give them a little more freedom to get forward and not worry about always getting back. We might even see Rose paired with Foyth and aurier with davies more permanently. Probably reading too much into one game but maybe something to look out for.

No, I think this makes loads of sense. It causes asymmetrical lines which eases counter pressing. Good post.

To be honest snodgrass didn't jump for the header, he just stood still and waited for Aurier to make contact.

Surprisingly good today as was Davies. Both helped by the tactical switch that gave them a lot more protection. Nice one José.

Few hairy moments here and there but overall was good today but let's see how long it lasts. Looks like Mourinho kept it simple with him and Davies. Don't think either were massively tasked with getting up and supporting attacks, looked more a case of if you find space in front of you, get there but if it's not there don't look to force the issue especially with both Son and Moura playing and looking like they had the licence to play wider on occasion whereas they seemed to be narrower under Poch. Dier playing also probably helped to fill in behind when he did get forward.

Aurier and Davies will never be the rampaging, back and forth fullbacks that were required in Poch's system so completely right to keep it simple with them and just get them to stick to their strengths.

The rotation was something that he felt was necessary. The point was that they would only play 1 game a week and that game they would be up and down the pitch the whole time. The physical performance indicators would state that they needed that recovery to perform at top level. Unfortunately the players stopped giving 100% and it made the point of rotation redundant

A poor challenge resulting in a penalty and us going behind.

If that had been correctly given you'd barely see any mention of him being good today.

He was fine but lucky.
Yes let’s just ignore his magnificent cross for Kane’s goal and several other dangerous passes/crosses into the spammers penalty area.

Did he actually have any? I don’t remember them.

edit: other than the assist people.

Please don't tell me you're talking about the header

No other Club in the top 4 rotates the full backs to that drastic extent.

There is more to football than being fresh for every game. Things like form, building relationships and partnerships with teammates around you. Morale, confidence, getting rewarded for having a good game by playing the next game.

Players should be rested when they need to be. Nobody is going to convince me that full backs can't play 2, 3, or even 4 games in a row. History of the greatest winning clubs will tell you that they can.
