Yep and I said as much during the summer: https://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/in...r-watch-christian-eriksen.122152/post-6447686

Completely agree on if we had flogged Eriksen a year earlier, we'd have all been furious, myself included but hindsight now tells us that's the way to go and that is exactly what I mean when I say Levy/Poch need to take responsibility but not want to call it blame. I think we are victims of a changing tide in football transfers and contracts and I think they need to accept in hindsight they needed to offer a new deal early out the gate or sell and get that money to reinvest and they can only do that with the knowledge they have now and take responsibility going forward if these situations arise again. I think you're right when you say you need a new deal with 3 years left or we need to look to sell. We're no longer a club that needs to cling to one player we have enough standing to sign quality replacements.

Times have changed and I think players have realised that they get traded like cattle for vast sums of money when they could be commanding a much bigger slice of the pie. The massive inflation in transfer prices has made this even more obvious. If you go back to Sol Campbell going to Arsenal, I don't remember any talk of massive signing on bonuses or mega wages. AFAIK, he went there on a fairly standard wage for a player at his level, but in the following years, players and agents have got wise to where the real money is. I think Levy has been addressing this with regular contract improvements for our top players, but in Eriksen's case I think the player had already decided where he wanted his career to go. Not much you can do about that.

I really hope either we turn our form around quickly or Poch leaves, because this thread is already just becoming one circular argument.

You should see them on The Fighting Cock. No one can have discussion without someone swearing at them

Somebody on here said that SC was the only place which was very anti-poch so I thought I'd check that site on, I went on 2 pages of liverpool/spurs match thread and they were having an argument about what countries colonized what and arguing about a posting saying squaddies are cannon fodder and then one poster wasn't happy he people were wishing death on him.

It was an interesting 4 minutes it has to be said. I think this place does a respectable job of keeping it football focused and fair, we all sometimes lose our temper and play the man and not the ball but for the most part we have pretty respectable debates.

Yep, I think we're going to have to accept either players leaving for cheap or players leaving at their peak, the middle ground has disappeared. This is why I don't like he blame game with Eriksen, We got him to sign one new deal, I just wish we all as fans would look introspectively and say yeah you know what if we had sold him when he was at his peak I'd have been furious so I can see how this situation has transpired instead of getting mad and then making things up like we're demanding too much or Levy isn't offering him enough money. Accept the circumstances but as I say we as a club do have control of how much he plays and he among others needs to be dropped by Poch. if we don't do well over the next 3 games and Poch is still including these guys then it's hard to see any other scenario other than Poch being shown the door.

Is it the prospect of Eriksen leaving as a free agent or his form that is annoying fans? It shouldn't be the former as that is his perogative.

I do think if he was playing well then the criticism would be few and far between case and point Modric but he isn't and the contract issue is exacerbating the situation.

Think you may be right but they all lost all sense of decorum since leaving here. TFC seems to bring the worst out of their members!!
I think that lack of decorum may well be why they are now over there, having been politely removed from here.
I don't think that many left by choice.

So Daniel Levy sacks Villas-Boas mid season after a short period of poor form, an injury ravaged squad still gelling together, with seemingly no one in mind to replace him apart from Tim fucking Sherwood.

Yet keeps Pochettino on as coach when we've had a year of poor form, there are barely any mitigating factors, and coaches like Mourinho and Allegri are free and likely willing to take over.

The situations aren't really comparable though are they
