In a way it was better to win in the circumstances we did instead of cruising to a 4-0 win.

Dug in, showed some balls, fought for each other etc
Happy days

In a way, yes. However, in another way, it would be great if we could stop being complete divs and giving soft goals/pens/red cards away, when we're up against it as it is.

And if Leicester and one of United or Arsenal win the race for 4th will be back on.

Let's not start talking about races until we've sorted ourselves out.

No race for anything begins or ends 7 games in!

The media have hoodwinked so many people with their overly dramatic bollocks. Back in the day the tables weren’t even printed in the paper after 7 games, now we’ve got ‘make or break’ fixtures after 6/7 games apparently...

Liverpool won’t win the league by 30 points just like Leicester, West Ham, Bournemouth and Palace won’t be anywhere near top 4 come May.

Well, there is that too!

The Palace stroll didn’t seem to do us much good so helpfully a back to the walls defiant performance ( all our own doing of course ) might do the trick!

No doubt Aurier has been roundly lambasted for getting sent off but, for what it's worth, I think he was unfortunate.

The tackle for the first booking was probably unnecessary but I thought a yellow card was harsh. It was clumsy. It wasn't reckless, he wasn't out of control or lunging, and giving a free kick was probably all it deserved.

I don't think the incident where he was given the second yellow was even a foul. The camera from behind the incident showed that, instead of chasing the ball, the Southampton player was running on a diagonal away from the ball in an attempt to block off Aurier from running to the ball. He was running in a line that was inevitably going to result in contact with Aurier, and when that happened he did exactly what you would expect: he hit the deck. Unfortunately, when incidents such as that happen and the ref deems it to be a foul he is going to give a yellow every time. It's an obvious decision to give a yellow card, and unless the ref had the same view as the one I've just described you can't blame him for it. (I wonder, does the VAR review all incidents when there is a sending-off? If so, he should have got involved.)

Anyway, as I say, I thought he was unfortunate; and therefore undeserving of the vilification he has doubtless received and will continue to receive.

Could not disagree more. If i didn't know better I'd have thought he was trying to get sent off.

First foul was a definite yellow. Scissored him down. And the most annoying thing is there was absolutely no danger.

The second one he's out of position (again) and is so stupid having just been booked and pulls him back.

Very lucky that the idiot didn't cost us 3 points.

Edit - I'm seeing people on here saying their player cheated for the second yellow . If so - apologies.

Hugo’s fuck up aside, i’m actually happier with today’s performance than I was with our superb first half against Palace.

Thought we showed real grit, determination and togetherness when we went down to 10 men and looked very dangerous on the break.

In the context of our season so far and with our reported off field issues, then today’s performance could well turn out to be exactly what we needed for the rest of the season.

Harding working performance, but we made it hard for ourselves with some poor play by Aurier & Lloris in the 1st half.

Hugo Fucked up badly for their goal, would have been comical had it happened to another team.

But fair play to him, produced a couple of top quality saves when needed in the 2nd half.
