It’s a whole season worth now? This thread makes the weekend and we’ll be hearing about our decade of despair under Poch. Can someone explain how we finished top 4 because surely we had to do something right last season despite all the other teams falling apart?
Come on, you can’t really say we looked confident in the league last season. We played poorly in the first half of the season but still got results and we remained poor and stopped nicking the wins.

Once again I am not saying anything other than people can have these concerns without it being reactionary.

We built the top 4 finish on a long run of "easy" games in which we largely delivered with more or less success. Then as you remember, we didn't "finish top 4" as much as we "gave away top 3" because we started fucking up, and since then we have continued to fuck up to an alarming degree. But please feel free to chose to no see the woods for all the trees.

As Poch himself says, football isn't played in the yesterday. it's the here and now. His past achievements of taking us from a 4th/5th/6th placed side to top 3 and numerous semi finals/ couple of finals is commendable, but it's hardly stunning is it? Noone has saying he has done a crap job, but neither is it mind blowing. Of all the managers to be in charge of the top 6 clubs since Poch has been in England, Emery and Gollum are the only ones who haven't won a trophy, both have only been here for one season and 9 months respectively. I have a sad feeling Poch's reign will be remembered for the near misses and that makes me sad.
Who would you like to see come in to replace him? As it's obvious by some of your posts you are not a big fan of Pochettino.

Without doubt the short highlight of the league season was a few games in December. People won’t like to hear it but there were well documented reasons for that too. No World Cup this summer so hopefully the smaller issues will be put to bed quicker. Along with this thread.

Are we still trying to establish that our results haven’t been great because I thought we moved on from that over 70 pages ago?

Poch managed to turn us into contenders and challengers over his first 5 years. Yes there are issues but if he is up for it and can solve the dressing room unrest or unease or whatever it is then I see no reason why he can't take us to the next step of actually winning something.

A lot will rest on Sundays performance(not necessarily the result) and then what happens once the European window closes. Big few days upcoming thats for sure.

No. Poch is light years better than Burkinshaw. Good cup manager, no progress in the league. I hate to think the abuse he would have got if SC existed in the early 80s. Only won the first cup due to a fluke goal from Villa, needed a penalty for his second cup against a first division QPR and nearly blew it at home against Anderlecht. Not my thoughts but akin to some of the crap levelled at Poch in this thread.
It is totally unfair to present Burkinshaw like that. He won us trophies playing great tootball and brought in great players. Had we not unfairly got rid him he would have probably won more. Remember that he had to deal with the vile Irving Scholar who almost destroyed the club. Most importantly Burkinshaw had a dignity and respect for the club that unfortunately eludes Poch.

That's spot on. I'm one of Poch's biggest advocates but when a respected ITK says he's lost the dressing room very early on in the thread it's no surprise that the thread has grown massively.

Had that contribution not occurred we'd still be on page 10 probably.
I am surprised that everyone taking what itk has said that as fact. With great respect to all ITK, it is not correct all the time. As proven previous TWs. To take it as a fact and start rambling is very knee jerk type of thing to do.

I would say most fans don't think it's as bad as they are expressing but were really disappointed with this performance about as much as any due to the higher expectations. We want to be in the elite and that performances smashes us in the balls.
Still it's not as bad as all that.
Roll on the weekend

its always about the expectations.

I don’t want to see Poch replaced. I want him to turn around the terrible performances and stop making weird selection mistakes

I Personally do want poch gone now ! Won’t be popular but .... I don’t think he himself is 100 percent committed anymore I just don’t think his heart is in it ! The press conferences show it for a start not once just putting all the speculation to bed last year. I think he thought he was going to get the united or Madrid job and once your head is turned it’s turned ! No one person is bigger than the club and we need a fully committed man to take us forward otherwise we see the performances we are currently witnessing

On a side note to that I would want to keep a fully committed determined hungry poch but I just don’t think he can give us that anymore

Can see why you would get that impression, but he has earned the trust of us to believe he wants to be here and to turn it around.

Too early for wanting him out.

I mean the man was balling his eyes out after the CL SF and F matches and there was that cojones video after the Man City match in the QF, that doesn't seem like a man who had his head turned or not committed.
