By position:

LHP - Marler, Vunipola, Genge
HK - George, Cowan-Dickie, Singleton
THP - Sinckler, Cole
SR - Itoje, Kruis, Lawes, Launchbury
BR - Underhill, Curry, Ludlam, Wilson, Vunipola

SH - Youngs, Heinz
FH - Ford, Farrell
CE - Francis, Tuilagi, Slade, Joseph
W/FB - Daly, May, Nowell, Watson, Cokanasiga, McConnochie

Some real gambles there. Only two scrum halves being the main one, and on paper seems a lot of outside backs. Surprise selections like Francis, and Ludlam and McConnochie have come from nowhere in the last month or so.

Cant believe also how every World Cup we seem to go into it with numerous players with only one or two caps, ultimately a lot of time wasted on the like of Te'o, Hughes, Shields, Care, Robshaw etc. only to bin them for others at the last part of the cycle.

Yep only two tight heads as well, imagine if cole gets injured in the first game or some thing. Oh well this is what world cups are all about eh we will probably be out before you know it any way.

You’re all such negative fuckers on here. You, Arn, TSH, Sugar Ray.

Mpickard ain’t to bad. I don’t get it, such a great chance for us and Ireland to win it this year.

I’d be worried if Sinkler gets injured as Cole, IMO, isn’t up to it.

Mind you, having said that, Sinkler, while a very talented player, is just generally a worry.

Usually only five props go, but yeah tight head is the more specialised position so that is where the extra one is normally selected.

Apparently Marler has been doing some work at 3. Likewise the rumours are that if a 9 has a niggle then Ford/Daly will be the cover. I'm hoping we don't have to test any of these scenarios out........

I think Cole was always getting selected, Williams has never totally convinced and is more suited to a bench role. Also with the likes of Sinckler, Genge and Marler maybe they wanted a bit calm and experience alongside them.

That’s a good point re Cole.

I’d imagine we’ll take 3 tight heads (Francis, Lee and Lewis) with Evans and Smith as our 2 loose heads.

Was disappointed in the front tow yesterday, though, as Nicky Smith has been doingvtealky well at regional level this year and had a good autumn (though that was almost a year ago now)

Who would you have like to see get in/miss out from that squad?

I'd have picked 25 of those by default, and there isn't much to query beyond the lack of experience of some of them.

I'd have liked to have found a space for Mike Brown, just to have as an option. I think at some point Daly might get exposed defensively, cant believe teams don't stick up more high balls against him but at the WC in a tight game they might be more willing to do that. Also once any break is made we're in big trouble as he rarely makes a tackle.

Think I'd have also preferred to have seen one or two more heavy ball carriers in the squad. If you take out Mako, Billy and Manu (all of whom are injury prone and might need wrapping in cotton wool) you're not left with too much bar some solid options but who aren't going to make a real dent in the line repeatedly as first up carriers.

If you said to me a couple of weeks ago that the only players who wouldn’t make it to the WC would be Anscombe and Faletau I would’ve been gutted but still quietly optimistic of a semi final. Problem being now that we still have 240mins I’d Rugby to play. You’ve got to think we’re gunna pick up another injury or 4.

I do not want to see AWJ, J Davies, Liam Williams, Tipuric, Moriarty or North play any more games now. Which obviously won’t happen.

I think next weekend's game is one that both teams could do without.

Especially us. Mind you, what’s the news on Slade? I saw his leg was in a brace on the sidelines yesterday.

It’s a tough balancing act, you need these games, you can’t go into the WC cold, especially when the SH sides are off the back of the rugby championship but I do think 4 games is pushing it.

Since they've named Slade in the final 31 you'd have to assume he's going to be all right, unless injury changes are allowed before the tournament starts ...
