i think people seem to forget about sissoko he was our player of the season last year and his partnership with Ndombele will be crucial in a lot of games next season
I think that as great as he was last season, his most important role once everybody is settled is going to be as a willing and effective alternative who can slot in for any of a number of players. He’ll get a lot of game time but if the signings work out as hoped I think by the end of the season he’ll be a very capable, versatile first reserve. That’s no bad thing, but our two major summer signings have been central midfielders which probably says all we need to know. I’d not be shocked to see Sissoko start every match before the international break, and he’d probably always start 2 in 5 as being able to rotate effectively is the point of having a good deep squad, but if he’s still first choice at CM by the end of the season it’ll mean that somethings not gone to plan with Winks, Ndombele or Lo Celso, or that there’s been a bad injury.

GLC certainly looks to have played quite deep for Betis. I don’t know if it was all season long but the clips I saw he was playing long passes over the top from quite deep positions and his heat map again was quite deep.

That said he obviously has the ability to play further forwards including as a false 9 too.

With Winks playing behind NDombele and GLC we will have a brilliantly balanced midfield. All three are excellent technical ball players but also are very physical, where NDombele lacks in goals, GLC certainly can score so on paper, it looks fantastic. I just hope both settle quickly.

Exciting times.

Any idea if he was involved in training at all today? I know it isn't Poch's style to involve players too quickly but I really hope he's on the bench tomorrow

Doubt it. I imagine he will be at the game to watch and then fly back to Spain to sort stuff out and then start full training next week.

I think he is still here. Don’t think he flew back. Should be doing so after the match. That was the understanding I had yesterday morning. When everyone was panicking

I did see pictures of him having breakfast/lunch with the players today and in training kit so I assume he was involved in some capacity. Looking at pictures it may be that he didn't do any ball work though, couldn't see him in any of them.

Probably being shown around and being introduced.

I wouldn't be shocked if he's on the bench; the team news did specifically say that Sessegon was out injured but didn't mention that Lo Celso wouldn't play.

Should we be worried this is only a loan?

If he has a great season and other teams become interested what happens then?

It was only done as an initial loan to stop PSG getting their hands on 20% sell on fee or whatever it was. LoCelso is a Spurs player when we take up our option to buy, but to all intents and purposes it's a done deal in all but name.
