I am now having dreams of GLC, Fernandes, Sessegnon and Bale coming in. Lets do this.

GLC, Fernandes, Sessegnon I could see happening, but I don’t think it’ll be Bale also, more likely a young project forward perhaps.

All the media seems to suggest it’s Lo Celso or Fernandes, and maybe designed to force Betis’s hand. However, there was talk Eriksen had a deadline to commit, and comments on here suggests he hasn’t, so maybe this is the progression of that, and it is two from three out of CE, GLC and BF.

I said earlier that I was worried this meant Eriksen leaving which I stand by athougj I do think Bruno is a good player - great goal threat from midfield too.

Fernandes, Lo Celso, and Eriksen are all similar players in a positional sense with all three having the creative and attacking attributes to be an effective #8 or #10. Whether you view GLC as the Eriksen replacement or Fernandes is simply a matter of choice if those 2 come in and Eriksen leaves. Depending on the formation we ultimately run this season, I can see Fernandes more likely being deployed as a #10 and Lo Celso playing as a creative midfielder especially if we operate with a three man midfield. Both are improvements on CE in a defensive sense.
Thanks for this really helpful

Having watched some more vids and match highlights (Barca 2017 in here and the preseason game vs Pool are good starters) I'm certainly more intrigued by him. He certainly has some of Eriksen's key attributes in his locker, such a great crossing in open play and long range shooting. Certainly seems to have good vision for the through ball too. Seems happy taking the ball under pressure and looks for interplays which will suit us if he signs. He's just a player who's looked bang average whenever I've seen him play, mainly for Portugal, but I accept that's not always a fair barometer. Does concern me for £50m plus though. No links other than Utd as far as I can tell either, who supposedly haven't even bid.

What I prefer about Lo Celso is that he seems more tenacious and he's already used to a pressing system. I think he is better at dribbling in tight areas too and he's been playing in a better league. Plus by all accounts his Poch's top target for AM.

That said if Eriksen is off then it may well not end up as a case of either/or!

I think he’s quite similar to Eriksen in terms of style and performance (in a much worse league, of course). In the StatsBomb radar below it seems that Eriksen is a better passer and Fernandes a better dribbler. Eriksen has better pressing and ball recovery stats, but I would guess that’s attributable to Pochettino’s tactics.

Fernandes is pretty strong defensively, he presses from the front.

Dont understand why they cant stay sat around the table pushing notes of paper between them with improved bids until they settle on something they both like.

All this toying and froing suggests it could e close
Probably cause the delegates would need to relay everything back to Levy and then come up with another offer based on that.

Has anyone? Unless it matches asking price or release clause, I imagine loads of first bids are rejected

Very true, but the difference is we often seem to leave the first bid until pretty late in the window.

Which inevitably usually means we are left trying to juggle too many transfer balls in the last few days, leading to the old “ we tried/it was complicated/*insert your own reason, excuse here etc etc.

Levy playing who blinks first with Betis, first with Dybala now with Bruno, I cant see us buying both and Lo Celso is top the list now. Levy is canny, he'll probably save us 15m but he drives me mad at times.
