I like Bruno. A lot. Only way he comes in is if Eriksen leaves which may well be the case it seems.
Let's see.
Let's see.
How come?I know nothing about him but 33 goals/assist in 33 games doesn’t seem bad?
I fear you’ll be disappointed, Eriksen only has a year left, if he has rejected the contract then he is leaving in the next 7 days without a doubt.
I’m convinced GLC is happening regardless so Fernandes can only mean Eriksen is off, or it’s just a leak to pressure United on the Portuguese side
Lo Celso and Fernandes seem comfortable playing as both number 10s and as CMs. Both would be comfortable playing further upfield as Eriksen often does, but both are also more combative than him so could perhaps play in a CM 2 whereas Eriksen always seemed a bit too soft for that.People keep talking about a CE replacement. I always thought he was a CM. And we are stocked for the creative/transition role.
If someone could enlighten me it would be greatly appreciated
I think Lo Celso is the first option as his transfer would happen regardless of Eriksen leaving
Bruno Fernandes is the replacement for CE, a really good one IMO.
I don't think it necessarily has to be the case that we are looking to bring both of them in as nailed-on first XI players. Poch has been after a player to compete and rotate with Eriksen for years (Barkely and Grealish), and we've been told over and over again that Lo Celso was not dependent on Eriksen being sold. It's clear that Poch wants two players in the squad for that role. If both were in blistering form at the same time, their positional versatility would probably mean we could find a place for both in the same XI if need be.Lo Celso and Fernandes seem comfortable playing as both number 10s and as CMs. Both would be comfortable playing further upfield as Eriksen often does, but both are also more combative than him so could perhaps play in a CM 2 whereas Eriksen always seemed a bit too soft for that.
Signing both of them would give us serious depth and options in both midfield and attack, but it's tricky to see how we'd ever consistently get the two of them in the same team unless we dropped Alli or Winks, or went back to the cursed diamond.
Yeah I think this a better way to look at it. Ideally we want players hungry and competing for places and also want some serious depth. Both of them would still comfortably get 40+ appearances in a CL team regardless of whether they were starting every single game.I don't think it necessarily has to be the case that we are looking to bring both of them in as nailed-on first XI players. Maybe something like this with Lo Celso given more of a free role on the right like Eriksen often used to have:
xxxxWinks - Ndombele
Lo Celso - Fernandes/Alli - Son
xxxxxxxxxKane
Gards stated he rejected the new contract.
Having said that, given both Fernandes and Lo Celso both play in essentially the same positions, he could be our back up to Lo Celso.
Does seem strange that there were practically no links all summer though. The sudden deluge of press implies something has changed and given the limited time left in the window, Eriksen turning down a contract offer and us suddenly making a big move makes a lot of sense.
IF CE is off, Bruno is probably the best we could realistically hope for as a replacement. Dybala was always dreamland.
CE out - GLC, Bruno, NDombele in
I'd take it.
