Ha ha...I know.

If they have truly 'Slammed' our transfer techniques then they will just walk away and refuse to sell him to us right, out of principle?

Betis Slam spurs by revealing they're financially fucked if they don't sell Lo Celso:cautious:

Seems like all our eggs are in the basket of Betis caving on price because they need the cash. Could be a dangerous game depending on how immediate is Betis' need for money is?

Maybe they can afford to hold out until Jan or next summer, he has another good season, more become interested and gets them more of the money they're after? With the market continuing to go crazy they're in a strong position.

I don't buy this GLC on hols stuff at all. I think his side of the deal is almost certainly already agreed and it is all about the fee/payment structure.

Agreed. I think the only thing left to do is agree a fee and with Levy that shit tends to take time. As frustrating as it may be it's necessary to do the best possible deal.

Once we agree the fee I think it'll be a quick turnaround.

What? He had been on holidays though. He has been posting pictures and videos online. Just because you have made something up in your head doesn't make it true. He would need to do a medical and sign a contract.

I was perfectly happy when we signed Tanguy.

However.

The ITK has now gone deathly quiet. And I have a growing sense that it's all going ominously downhill behind the scenes.

I had a horrifying thought that the GLC and Sess deals have stalled as those players know Poch and Levy have fallen out and MoPo is about to walk.

Please God let me be wrong.

Well that escalated quickly

we've clearly got money too!
I never said we don't. I'm only saying that we cant just pay what teams ask for. We have to negotiate more. Liverpool sold one of their best players for silly money to add to their transfer budget. They signed 2 key players and a couple of squad players. We've not sold any of our top players and signed 1 key player. We also paid big on a new stadium that hasn't long been open. I don't see how people expect us to do what they did. If we sign Sess and Lo Celso without selling Toby or Eriksen I think we'll have had a better window than they had anyway.

You've mis-understood my comments. I am well aware he has been on holidays but I don't think for a minute that something like a career defining move is put on one side while he relaxes on the beach and refuses to communicate with his agent etc. It is pretty clear that we are the club he wants to join and it is naive to suggest that wages/contracts haven't been discussed via his agent. Of course, it would all be subject to a medical -that is obvious.

There’s a massive difference between knowing you’ve secured a signing and still faffing about over said player heading into the last week or so of the window. We’ve made one 1st team signing... we need another 2 minimum, ideally 3 if we’ve any aspirations this season.

As it stands we’re heading into the new season against Villa with:

Lloris
KW-Peters as our only fit and available RB
Toby - contract limbo
Vertonghen - contract running down
Rose - yet to participate and been told he can go
NDombele - yay
Winks?
Eriksen - contract limbo and head turned
Alli - grossly out of form
Moura
Kane

Question marks all over the place and other than NDombele we’ve still not strengthened elsewhere. RB - meh, LB - God knows what state Rose’s head is in. We laugh at other teams but we’re no better off than they are. City and Pool are miles ahead of us.
Not saying we're in a brilliant position, but I wouldn't say Pool are either. No first team signings, front 3 all been in international tournaments and not involved in pre-season, Mané still in Senegal. This comes after the front 3 all played 4000 minutes in the league last season, so they're not exactly in a great predicament either.

I'm pleased there's not too much angst towards Levy atm, I'm backing him in this Lo Celso saga because the price they are suggesting is ridiculous and even though it's late in the window, I don't blame him on this one, the problem he will have is if anybody else gets involved but I have faith in him on this one.

We need to have an alternative player come in then that he and the manager agree on. That’s the problem we had last summer and got nobody in the end.

#thfc transfer target Giovani Lo Celso will not force through a move away from Real Betis and will stick to his agreement that he can leave the club if they receive a €75M offer | @Estadio_ED

Not looking good to say the least
It really isn't, frankly i think we need to pay up and get this done now, otherwise i see this transfer slipping away from us before the end of the week.

Just pure coincidence that eriksen is still with us and we haven't bought Lo Celso ?
Does not matter one bit - We need GLC, or anybody else with his quality and in his position, even if Eriksen stays. Has been the case for a number of years now. Just pure luck that Eriksen seemingly is made out of Danish oak or something, and have barely been injured.

I agree with the OP. Poch is clearly unhappy and about to walk, therefore no one wants to sign for us, when he leaves he'll likely infuse the stadium with anthrax making it inhabitable and also voiding any insurance we have. We'll have to sell all our players other than GKN who will have to be our player manager/chairman/physio. Bolton should have been a warning sign, we are seriously doomed.

Other teams could also buy GLC, let's not pretend otherwise.
How many other teams can afford him though and how many teams that can afford him actually need him in their team? Always a chance we could lose him but I'm hopeful if he wants to come the agent will be keeping us informed.

Will all that be enough for us to gain 20 odd points on them?

They could, but currently they'd have to pay over the odds for him (like we are being asked to do) and they'd also have to get the player to want to join them....which might or might not be easy, as it's fairly likely that the players has been thinking he's going to be a Spurs player for the past month or so, and unless a huge club come in for him then it might be difficult to change his current mindset.
