Why wouldn't we just give betis an extra 10m for lo celso?
Yeah, well I didn’t say it wasn’t without flaws....

Disappointing that we left ourselves so much work to do this summer. Still time left in the window but have a lot of players that need to be moved in and out.
Have little confidence we’ll get the upgrades we need at backup striker and RB.
I agree and RB is not priority either as that poster claimedCrucial point here is that Spurs need for a back up striker is just your opinion, rather than fact. Yes Llorente has left, but fairly sure he only got meaningful game time due to Kane injury and Son being suspended both for CL and PL games. Only my opinion but don't think we do need to buy a back up striker with Moura and Son able to cover for Kane and, perhaps, Parrott having a crack at lower level Cup opposition.
I think youre spot on. We'll be less reliant on a CF back up if we have Alli, Lo Celso, Lucas, Son, Lamela all angling for roles should Kane be out.Crucial point here is that Spurs need for a back up striker is just your opinion, rather than fact. It ‘appears’ this deal may not have been as close to completion as some ITK’s believed.
Why do you say that? It seems that getting Tanguy in early has heightened you and others expectationsIt ‘appears’ this deal may not have been as close to completion as some ITK’s believed.

If we add Ceballos and Sessegnon in there we should have loads of options and variations meaning a CF is not that important.
I also think having a CF replacement has been tried and failed. Soldado showed it first, Janssen has been a waste, Llorente scored a couple of huge goals otherwise we've largely struggled with him on the pitch.
We are much stronger when we have dynamic players, Kane (whilst seemingly a CF) fits in so well as he is so dynamic he can do everything. The minute we replace him with another CF everything is less fluent.
I'd make the case for another WF to back up Son and Lucas but I have a feeling we will use more midfielders and attacking midfielders going forward, especially as we may have Ndombele, Winks, Sissoko, Ceballos, Lo Celso, Lamela playing in these roles.
Think back to 16/17 season, we had:
Dier - Wanyama
Dembele
Eriksen - Kane - Alli
or
Wanyama - Dembele
Eriksen
Son Kane Alli
The emphasis was on controlling the midfield and being strong defensively, we were also much more dynamic in attack. If we look at our transfer targets - mostly midfielders - then I think we can say that we are looking to have more options here and regain control.
Last season we weren't as pleasing to watch as we lost control of games, didn't dominate as much, gave too much space away and were not as free flowing as before. The midfield was not set up to control or be defensively resolute.
If we want to match City or Liverpool we need to be strong here again. Therefore CF is simply not an important area to strengthen.
It never really worked when we did; far too ponderousWe never consistently played Dier & Wanyama together at CM.
16/17 we mainly played 3 at the back and Wanyama partnered Dembele in midfield, Dier playing on the right side of Toby.We never consistently played Dier & Wanyama together at CM.

It was both to be fair. We used the 4-2-3-1 and the 5-2-1-2Not sure about that
Dier was certainly used, but I think he was a sub or back up for Wanyama
I thought our main line up was Lloris, Walker, Verts, Toby, Rose, Wanyama, Dembele, Dele, Eriksen, Lamella/Son and Kane

They have not said it's off in fact now one is saying anythingIt ‘appears’ this deal may not have been as close to completion as some ITK’s believed.
Feels like this deal and maybe one or two more are stalled at the fee haggling stage. ITK may have come from agent side when personal preference (and possibly contract terms) were decided, and everyone heard it was just the fee left to decide when in reality that wasn’t as far along as people understood. It's quiet too quiet no

I'm not sure, there was a lot more media toing and froing when we signing TND and in the end that went relatively smoothlyFeels like this deal and maybe one or two more are stalled at the fee haggling stage. Feels like this often the case as the player/agent component is the part that’s most easily accessed/leaked, whereas the clubs are much tighter lipped with their negotiations.
Because an ITK said it was very close...10 days ago which I know may not be long in scheme of things but my close and others close evidently differsWhy do you say that? It seems that getting Tanguy in early has heightened you and others expectations
