It’s strange though considering how very little he appeared for Leeds last season.
Yes but that was his breakthrough season, and was obviously disrupted by the collapsing incident just when he was getting into his stride. There’s every chance he establishes himself in their starting XI next season.

Yes, but it leaves us still with an attacking player short with a small chunk of our budget gone for this season. With Poch talking about winning the league, we need to think about our short term needs a little bit too.

It wouldn't be the end of the world if he didn't play too much next season, he's very young and we could loan him in January or next summer if that were the case. But now if we get injuries there will be a lack of depth again.

How many do we need? (genuine question)

Son
Moura
Dele
Lamela

Other options
Edwards
Oakley booth

Not sure if we have any other good attacking midfielders coming through

Edwards and Oakley booth will be even further away from the first team than Jack Clarke would’ve been

Lamela is too injury prone to be relied on and Edwards/Oakley Booth are not first team-ready. If we sign Lo Celso as well as keeping Eriksen that should provide some good depth in attacking midfield. Can't see it happening though.

considering that for good part of the season our bench looked like: Llorente, Dier, Sanchez, Wanyama, Davies, Skipp, Gazzaniga and fact Llorente is going away, I think we need another offensive option, even if Eriksen stays.

You need to factor in that excluding Janssen we have one number 9. If Janssen goes we definitely need another player whether it's a wide option or striker. If Son plays 9 then we are short like last season.

If it’s true (I know that some posters have mentioned that it isn’t , but I’d Guess we’ll have to wait to find out if its true), then this ends any arguments whether he would / wouldn’t be club trained by us, even with the slimmest possibilities of referring to some of the terms of the regulations regarding this issue.

We need a striker option, I agree with that.
I'm just not sure we can rule out a few of our youngsters saying not PL ready and complain we may send Clarke back on loan.
Who probably isn't PL ready just now.

Judging by hercs ITK it seemed to suggest that we wanted to give him a chance before deciding on what to to with him.
And considering when we had a fair few injuries last year Oakley booth was never called upon, as marsh was the one normally called up into the first team, so in my view can’t see him being near the team yet

Unless I’m mistaken, has to be a full three years before you turn 21, so no, he wouldn’t count as club-trained.
This is correct. It has to be 36 months between the player’s 15th and 21st birthday. The 22nd year (i.e. the year that begins the day after his 21st birthday) doesn’t count.

Because he’s already into his 19th year (the year between his 18th and 19th birthday), there isn’t enough time for him to have been registered with us for the necessary 36 months.

Reading that back, I hope that makes sense, but worried it doesn’t!

EDIT: it is actually till the end of the season in which the player turns 21. So in the case of Clarke, he would count as club-developed because there would be enough time between this summer and the end of the season in which he turns 21 which would be May 2023, which is 47 months away.

That’s based on the most recent info I can find, but I’m still investigating.

Interesting that the decision seems to have changed on whether to loan him back to Leeds or not.

Wonder if it’s because we are now more confident on getting other targets - eg. GLC and now no longer see Clarke getting as many minutes next season

If it’s true I think that’s why it’s delayed and they want to announce tanguy 1st so that our first signing in ages isn’t a loan back

Agreed. We can't go another season with no competition for Eriksen and Dele. Part of the reason their form dipped a bit last season was because they were over-played and there were no backups of sufficient quality (or in Lamela's case he wasn't consistently available). We definitely need more creative/progressive/attacking midfielder depth.

My worry is that we'll simply replace Eriksen with Lo Celso, in which case we won't have increased our depth in that position.

I don't believe it's on our terms as early ITK said we didn't want to lend him back so if it is true it is something we have had to agree to in which case I would hope there are conditions on how much playing time he gets.

All very odd, multiple links to wingers in the press for Leeds (one loan of a City youngster and a player from Wolves) and we are loaning him back?

Somethings obviously happened.
