The mental part is actually that they got a player worth €60/70m from PSG for only €20m. PSG should have kept him and they gave him away for far less than his market value.

This is simply part and parcel of the decision PSG made to bring in Neymar and Mbappe so near to each other and in the context of FFP, and I’ve no doubt they knew it too. They knew full well that the cost of this was that they were simply going to have to sell fringe players whenever possible, for whatever amount possible when opportunities would arise in ensuing years. Buying clubs also know they can string PSG over over the negotiation table as well as a result of this, as PSG would have no choice but to make some sales. Hence, this exact situation. PSG simply aren’t in the position to wait and see if players like this suss out, and good thing for us if we eventually are at the end of the line of benefit here.

I think it's somewhere in between. £40m I think would have been decent. Instead they got him for £20m less and will probably end up selling for £20m. A great example of the loan with view to buy model greedy teams leave themselves exposed by

That we were after Lo Celso before Eriksen made his statement to maybe leave it does make you wonder if he is going and we get £80-90 mil if both Lo Celso and Fernandes aren’t both on our list, we have need more depth in that area for sometime and simply replacing Eriksen will not give Poch the team he needs if he wishes to challenge.

Man City have De Bruyne and two Silva’s, if we want to break teams apart we need more than just one creator.

Serious money though. Difficult to say but I have said I would prefer another AM to a backup for Kane, especially as we have Lucas and Son who can do a job there if need be.

Is a team that looks like Lloris, Aurier, Vertonghen, Sanchez, Rose, Winks, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Fernandes, Dele & Kane with options such as Foyth, Dier, Sissoko, Lucas & Son on the bench getting a little too greedy?

We are talking around £200m for that to happen, along with moving Alderweireld, Trippier, Eriksen and Lamela on. I can't see it myself as we'd need to replace Trippier and Toby on top of all of those guys so it would be more like a £250m window at the very least, minus of course the money generated with those that move on.

Not happening, we won't be going for all three of Ndombele, Lo Celso and Fernandes. Ndombele and Lo Celso will definitely do.

The issue is then with Poch making all manner of noises about improving the squad over the last few months to simply replace Eriksen does not really fit in, it’s nice don’t get me wrong but it’s not out and out ambition. It would be like Liverpool selling Van Dijk and buying De Ligt, great replacement but not going to change them much.

If they both cost £70 million and we get say £90 million for Eriksen that’s £50 million spent to significantly upgrade our creativity, if we want to compete at the top that’s what it will cost.

Agreed but if Eriksen wants out and his value is nowhere near what Liverpool could demand for a well in contracted player like Coutinho, our hands are somewhat tied.

Liverpool sold Coutinho and with that money invested it across 3 top players, we don't be able to do so with the Eriksen money based on who Pochettino is seemingly targeting.

You're also not taking into account our CL run, record profits, PL cash from this season and not spending for 2 windows, i don't think we will, but I think we could spend close to 200m without having to worry about selling.

We do need to do what Pool did, we have glaringly obvious weaknesses in the first 11.

I don't think we've got £200m, but I'd be astonished if Poch wasn't given a considerable amount of money to spend. Everyone knows he needs to be backed, the ITKs have all said he'll be backed, Glenn Hoddle has said the money is there, we've posted world record profits this year and that was before this season's champions League run. I think this could be a very good summer for us.

Would be nice but I don’t buy it.

We’ve known Eriksen’s going for ages, surely.

I’m sure we’d spend the Fernandes money you’ve earmarked on a RB instead

TBF I said close to 200m ?. If you took 50% of our prize money (PL & CL) and we add what we didn't spend last summer (all ITK said there was money to spend) along with 50m from our record breaking profits, I still think we could spend 200m easy.

We've needed another creative midfielder for a while now which is why we tried for Grealish last year. We miss Eriksen too much when he's out. The question is will Poch be convinced of Skipp now and make him the 2nd creative midfielder (Grealish alternative if you like) after Lo Celso. Or will he sign another creative player in addition to Lo Celso and loan out Skipp. If we sell Dier or move him into defence we could sign a box to box player like N'Dombele. That would give us Winks, Sissoko, Lo Celso, N'Dombele and Skipp next season.

I do think Poch likes to give youth a chance as much as possible so would not be surprised to see more of Skipp next season. He may also keep Llorente another season and allow time to see how Sterling progresses.

Skipp whilst looking decent has shown all the creativity of a spoon. If he is our second choice 'creative player' whilst Liverpool have Shaqiri, Keita, Lallana etc. and City have Silva, Sane, Mahrez or whoever isn't in the XI then we ain't competing!

Don't be fooled by the BS. We are not suddenly going to switch targets from Lo Celso.
How can you be so sure? Just because we want someone, we don’t have any guarantee of anything. Could be to worry Betis, or it could be a show of interest.
Not knocking you at all, just saying that anything can be BS, except ITK but that means we are interested and doesn’t control the result.

You are also forgetting that we have a debt of £638m plus to pay off.
Yep but we have ITKs info saying we are interested in buying certain players whose total come close up to £200m.
The business world of Spurs knows how much we can spend and that will be the figure.

We are also selling players.

If we spend £200m net on players i will be very surprised.

No it doesn't have to be paid off all at once. But we still have the southern development to be built.

None of us have an idea of how much we have available to buy players. It might be money raised by sales (as in previous years) it might be a lot more. We don't know. Saying one way or the other is a bit pointless.
We have ITK info that we are willing to spend and that we are expecting this to be done in the next few weeks.
Sure, we have a big debt and more to be done.
I’m going with what the ITKs have said.
No-one thinks we are debt-free.
The whole world runs in debt these days. Debt is the power in the whole system. Football is never gonna be different. ❤️

So you think we will spend £200m net? Which is what the post i was replying to was saying originally.

The eriksen situation needs resolving ASAP. If he’s going then we need to start thinking about shifting him on, yes we want a decent price for him. He has 1 year left and if we can get 60m for him, we have take it.

We don’t want to leave it to late and miss out on our primary targets. Then end up not upgrading the squad

We have probably already agreed a price. Just trying to bring in a replacement first.
