Welbeck on a free.

Levy: :sneaky:

tell you what, this would be a good bit of business. With so much work to be done around the squad, picking up DW as a replacement for Fernando/ VJ would be a smart bit of business.
We can't bring in everyone we need in this window. There is a lot of work to be done and 1-2 frees could be useful.
The other one is Milner - again if we want to shuttle out a few, he could be a good option and homegrown.
IF we sell/release: FL, GKN, VJ, Lamela, Aurier, Trippier, Toby, Vorm, Onomah, Wanyama we probably have the money for 3-4 quality additions: Grealish, AWB, perhaps Chilwell.
Maybe there is more money than a zero net spend and we can bo big for NDombele but can't see more money being spent than that. A couple of frees like these would work well.

Probably off: Toby, Llorente, Vorm, Janssen, N’koudou

Possibly off: Eriksen, Trippier, Aurier, KWP, Wanyama, Lamela, Onomah, CCV

Staying: Hugo, Gazzaniga, Jan, Sanchez, Foyth, Rose, Davies, Dier, Winks, Sissoko, Skipp, Dele, Lucas, Son, Harry

Since this is a wishlist thread - the recent reports of NDombele, Sessegnon, van de Beek, Grealish and Atal would be amazing. Those additions could go a very long way toward dealing with a loss of Eriksen.

You cannot underestimate how much Eriksen and Alderweireld mean to this club. They are world class players. Eriksen is arguably the player of the decade at Spurs. Them leaving, especially Eriksen, is going to be a major blow. Expecting players (like Grealish and Sessegnon) who are completely unproven in top flight football to come into one of the top clubs in the world and come close to replacing what we lose in the above scenario is unreasonable in my opinion.

That's why I'd prefer we look at potentially attainable players who have experience at the top level. Fekir (1-year left on contract) and Ziyech have talent, but more importantly, have proven themselves against top level competition. Fekir would probably cost the same as Grealish, too, with Ziyech likely to even be cheaper than Grealish, who Villa reportedly want 60 million pounds for. Insigne, also, is a player that Poch was said to be smitten with a few seasons ago (Napoli would probably want a lot for him, though). Still, with the potential Trippier deal with Napoli, we should kick the tires on a separate/supplemental deal for Insigne. Signing Grealish on top of one of those three mentioned players above, or on top of a newly re-signed Eriksen would be one thing, but I fear expecting him to step into Eriksen's shoes would be an enormous amount of pressure to cope with.

No it wouldn't. He's never fit and when he is fit he's pretty crap

Eriksen is absolutely quality, but Kane is our best player of the last 25 years.

I agree we should be going for players like Ziyech/Fekir/Brandt/Havertz to replace him however.

Fair point. It's why I said "arguably," but I'd concede a strong case could be made for Kane, too. The case for Eriksen is that he is simply so instrumental to the style Pochettino plays, that without him these six seasons (not just his creativity and goals, but his workrate), we would have been in so much trouble. Ditto for Kane, obviously.

Not much can be done if Eriksen wants out and his contract is expiring.

Perhaps it’s time to change our style of play. Everything thought Liverpool would be in deep shit when Coutinho left but it left them change things up a bit and now look.

Is Le10 Sport a good source ?
Are they somewhat reliable?
Hit and miss.

In a way that’s not the point with the Ndombele story. Aulas has said that Ndombele is leaving - he’s come out and said that he would like to see him go to Juve to play with Pjanic (a former Lyon player). That’s a highly unusual move for a president - to publicly say where he would like the player to go !

There are several possible reasons for this. The first is that Aulas is an eccentric chairman (true) making a whimsical comment. Juventus have a mythical status in France - Platini and Zidane made their names there; Trezeguet, Pogba, Evra and others have played there... Maybe it’s a statement of paternal hope.

There is also the possibility that the club is leaking all of Europe’s big clubs to the media to get the highest possible price for an asset he knows is leaving. Le10 report 6 clubs as being interested with a new club given prominence every few days. Other publications lead on different angles - « Zidane facing competition from Juventus », « PSG looking at Pjanic if Ndombele deal does not work out » etc etc

So this Ndombele report with Spurs is no more serious than anything else in the flood linking him to any of 5/6 super clubs. Don’t do it to yourself.

Hopefully now with 4th almost guarenteed, we can start the rebuilding process for next season, none of this dragging you feet approach trying to get the best deal as possible.
I never want to see our side with so many failings in it. Approach it like Liverpool did last season. No excuses now. If you want the fans to back the club with their cash, give them a squad fitting of our stadium. It doesnt need to be big names but as long as the holes and problems in the squad is sorted.

We need to move on a few but we need so many I just can’t see how this summer is going to go well. Particularly if Toby and Eriksen go

Addressing all of our problems in one window will be a monumental task, but let's see what Poch and Levy have up their sleeves.

As long as we strengthen, I'll be happy even if we can't address all the problems at once.

I haven't watched enough to judge Atal. But who do you guys want more, Atal or AWB? If not these 2, then who?
