That was a proper VARce. 4 mins 25 seconds from ball out of play to penalty taken. That is unacceptable.

Thankfully it was at least the right decision, but they have to get there quicker than that. Weird that the ref wasn't called over to the monitor immediately.

It would help if the referee's just immediately flashed a yellow card at anyone who comes up to them and starts arguing. That decision did take a silly amount of time, but with all of these VAR decisions half of it is the referee having to go back and forth between listening to the guy in his ear, and dealing with players complaining to him.

City should have half a dozen bookings there, job done. It would stamp it out in no time.

Not sure if that was a penalty, definitely hits him on the arm but you can see he was trying to move it out of the way.

If they booked players for surrounding the ref, the other game would be abandoned for lack of players :ROFLMAO:

Absolutely agree, player petulance is never dealt with the way it should be.

I just don't understand why when the VAR refs deliberate for so long, they don't call the ref over to the screen to make a quicker decision.

If it’s the correct decision, I’m all for a delay.

Yep. Came to a good decision after use of VAR in the Atletico v Juventus game too. Costa was clipped outside the box but fell when in the box (probably knowing what he was doing) and a penalty was initially given. After a delay and a review the right decision was made and it was a free kick.

At any time it's important really but in a stage like this, that initial wrong decision could have been the difference between Juventus going through or not.

Lol karma for Fernandinho, who has made an art of getting away with 20 fouls a game.

Out of the way of what though? It was going in between his arm and body. It's just an excuse to move your hand down to the ball imo

Out if the way of the ball coming towards him. His arm was out at the side and I genuinely think he was moving it out of the way of the on-coming ball to behind his back.
