I used to think this kind of victim mentality was limited to Liverpool fans but seems like it is spreading. And whilst I agree throwing a banana on to the pitch is going to cause questions, my point is that this guy threw what in his mind was the nearest thing to him, at Bellerin, and the headlines were "Racist Spurs fan throws banana at Aubameyang". That cannot be right and the media have to be more responsible.
I want pies chucked at the league cup game.
She is obviously doesn't realise that it has been done many times as a racist gesture in today's climate. Not sure how anyone can attack Ian Wright on this, he defended us and just condemned the incident, which on the face of it does look like a racist gesture. My wife hates all sport with football her no1 hate said "does anybody believe in todays climate that a person throwing a banana would be doing so as a racist gesture. really. this was an act of someone who got overexcited and threw the banana without thinking" well I make her right and speaking of right it did not take Ian Wright long to jump on the have a pop at spurs bandwagon tosser.
So what you are saying that people shouldn't be so upset that the media got it wrong as it was a genuine mistake?I used to think this kind of victim mentality was limited to Liverpool fans but seems like it is spreading.
The guy threw a banana (and it being just the skin is irrelevant) in the direction of a person of colour, which is a well known racist gesture, so of course the media (and everyone else) are going to assume and report it this way. No one was thinking "that was obviously meant for Bellerin".
Which presumably the club and police have seen as they are not following he racist angle.End of the day it looks terrible but if this set of events is true then there will be cctv footage to deem it not racially motivated

Just going by the OP that the police are not prosecuting a racist act just throwing a missile.Yh the club wont be able to say its not racially motivated in the current climate of wanting to burn somebody on a cross. I wonder if police will make a statement
We don't know for sure they did get it wrong, we just have his word for it.So what you are saying that people shouldn't be so upset that the media got it wrong as it was a genuine mistake?

It sort of is.We don't know for sure they did get it wrong, we just have his word for it.
The club and police not following it up isn't evidence of anything.
I suppose, it's evidence that Police can prove beyond doubt that he threw the banana but proving it was racially motivated isn't a 100% open and shut case and not worth pursuing in scheme of things (let's not forget they are underfunded, understaffed and have bigger issues). It's evidence that the club don't want a fine from UEFA, it's about all it proves though. It sort of is.
That is one argument and I respect it, it does however bring us back to the media assuming it was an open and cut case.I suppose, it's evidence that Police can prove beyond doubt that he threw the banana but proving it was racially motivated isn't a 100% open and shut case and not worth pursuing in scheme of things (let's not forget they are underfunded, understaffed and have bigger issues). Much has been said regarding how quick the police reacted but thankfully they kept them peeled.I suppose, it's evidence that Police can prove beyond doubt that he threw the banana but proving it was racially motivated isn't a 100% open and shut case and not worth pursuing in scheme of things (let's not forget they are underfunded, understaffed and have bigger issues). They could show it on pay per view. Why not combine a love of origami and throwing things at people in a harmless way?
Banana bread?I might bake a honey cake and take it along. i can see that doing some serious damage. Can get extremely sticky
