"Hey, I know the Titanic is taking on water, but how about we wait until it actually sinks before we panic!'

:sneaky:

I hope Levy pulls something out of his arse, because its likely to be a diamond....but, surely you can understand the frustration building.
Of course. I just don't understand the ott absolutist comments now. People need to chill out in my humble opinion. Nice Titanic analogy (y)

So despite everything that the club (Inc DL) have done in recent years, including consistently giving our best new deals, we're going to start slagging them off just because no one wants to buy the dogshit we're hoping to sell....

In recent years a good window was not losing our best - but now suddenly it's a disaster because we can't convince someone to buy players we don't play anyway?? :bored:

I think you're missing the point. The big issue is that by not being able to sell our unwanted players it is STOPPING us from bringing in players we do want.

The players we want to move on are Transfer Deadline Day type players...only our Transfer Deadline is 3 weeks earlier than our most probable purchasers.

We can't afford to wait for outgoings before bringing players in.

Comparing the situation to the titanic is hyperbole.
Thanks - I thought that might be lost on people....

But, seriously though - I think there is room for fans voicing their concern now, and not just at the end of the window. I think everyone here wants what is best for Spurs, but might disagree about how to go about it. So, some people will have faith that everything will be alright, and some will get nervous.

Comparing the situation to the titanic is hyperbole. Whatever happens, we are finishing this window with one of the best teams and squads in the league.

It is a big summer in my opinion. You're right it's hardly disaster times as we do have a really good team however considering the huge increase in ticket prices it's inexplicable and pretty unacceptable if we come out of this window without at least a decent net spend. No one with a brain is expecting City, Utd or now Liverpool spending but at the minute it is really starting to feel very familiar.

That's not missing the point. There are multiple reasons why we can't sell after we buy, and it'd be the case for any club.

Information leaked by Tottenham:

May/June: season ticket renewal time - big times ahead! Massive amounts spent this summer! The dawn of a new age!

July: Eveything is bleak, nothing is happening, the world will end

August: Average transfers made as per the status quo, fans are happy because it is better than what was said in July. Levy is happy because another zero net spend window.
This is just one of those posts that people put out just for the sake of it, you know to get people agreeing with you etc...

Do you honestly believe that the info was leaked just to get fans to buy season tickets??

Season tickets for the first season in our brand new stadium ? If fans were basing buying a season ticket in our brand new stadium on info released about potential signings then we don’t deserve fans like that in my opinion

Eventually everyone gets on the same page, it just takes some a little to longer to see the disappointment coming

Season tickets were in April. Surprised you don’t know this, being the know it all. Please try again.

Love from all Season ticket holders.

I'm not too worried tbh. We have one of the top three squads in the league as demonstrated by our performance over the last three years. The idea that because United, Liverpool and City are spending and we're not we're 'going backwards' doesn't make sense. The players who have delivered for us year in year out have been the likes of Kane, Dele, Eriksen, Vertonghen - none of them big money signings.

The players we did pay a lot for - Sissoko, Soldado, Paulinho, Aurier are a lot more hit and miss. Too early to say with Lucas and only Son and Sanchez have been clear successes. I don't think Levy will have missed this and I think he's right to be skeptical at throwing money around especially on players who aren't even out first choices (we can't get Martial so let's spend £70m on someone else just to get someone in the door).

You can appreciate all the great things Levy has done as a business man whilst also being infuriated by his dealings in the market. People aren't all good or all shit. People saying any club in our position would need to remove the deadwood need to look at how we amassed so many crap players in the first place. As an example we had the ITK that Batshauyi was basically as good as got but we didn't want to trump up the extra cash for him. Instead we got Janssen in and Sissoko for a silly amount. Those 2 combined whilst cheaper at the time have now cost us more in the long run, Even the head of scouting at the time fucked off because of it. We're allowed to be critical of this aspect of Levy.

Quite how the Premier League clubs thought closing the transfer window early with no other league in Europe following the same plan would be a good idea is beyond me, puts all clubs at a massive disadvantage in all dealings with foreign clubs
Apparently next year it will be uniform throughout Europe . We took it upon ourselves to do it this year expecting the rest to follow and they didn’t. Prem lge voted quite heavily in favour

A. I am a st holder

B. The process for tickets stretched out over a long period which I know because I know some new ones.

C. I never professed to knowing it all. I like everyone else simply shared an opinion.

Haven't been here in a while, but thought I would offer my thoughts.

Our whole transfer window effectiveness and potency is being held up by the inaility to shift certain players out of the club.

Yet, it's the very same players we have ended up buying in 'desperate and last-gasp panic buying' in previous windows that we can't now shift.

What does this show us?

1) Our transfer window strategy is poor, ineffective and too 'reactive' versus 'proactive'.
2) The packages and wages we offer to desperate last-gasp transfers are disproportionate, inflated and makes them impossible to shift if the gamble doesn't pay off.
3) Levy's 'cunningness' (that used to be cute) has now become easy to read by other clubs and plays against us.
4) Our transfer strategy is ill-thought-out and out of date.
5) As a club, we are poor at learning and evolving, to stay one step ahead of our competitors.
6) We are easy to read.
7) Levy, feeling guilty in his ineffectiveness at the end of the trasnfer window, makes poor, impulsive decisions to try and grab favour with supporters at the end of the window.
8) We end up back at point 1.

If Levy (who is obviously a good 'business' person) can't see this cyclical pattern of dysfunctional behaviour...then he needs to bring in a strategist to work alongside him...who can provide alternative points of view, fresh strategies and different perspectives.

I'm sure Levy knows Einstein's Law of Insanity. I just can't comprehend how he can allow his own stubbornness to keep playing out a failed transfer window strategy over...and over...and over...again.

Top tip for next season...do things completely differently...and surprise the market.
A fresh approach (whatever that might look like).
And stop taking on driftwood to appease fans in the dying moments of the transfer window...because you won't be able to shift them later down the line!!!
Then we end up back at the beginning of the whole fucked-up loop!!

Over and out.
