Watched from 70mins, didn't see an awful lot and villa had a fair amount of possession. Bruce seems to employ hoof ball tactics but Onamah doesn't seem to make a great impact and looks a bit disinterested defensively.
Spoke to a Villa fan at the pub on Xmas eve, said he wasn't up to much and people like Grealish are as good/better even in his favoured CM spot. Said he won't be missed much if he goes in Jan. And another mate said he's been 'shocking' today.
Joy.
Onomah getting slaughtered at the Villa forums these days. They see him as lazy and lethargic.
Is Alan Hutton still there?Glowing reviews tonight:
Josh Onomah is easily the worst footballer I’ve seen at villa, lazy and shit
Villa fans are shits!Glowing reviews tonight:
Got out of jail with that penalty 1-1 was a bit flattering expected better than that SB's tactics didn't make sense subs right wrong ones removed Onomah waste of time as my teacher would say must do better!
Onomah not interested for me tonight, another chance and done nothing of note..
Josh Onomah can fuck off back to Tottenham, an all. Clearly doesn’t want to be here. #avfc #thfc
Josh Onomah is easily the worst footballer I’ve seen at villa, lazy and shit
All I can say is how the fuck did that Onomah stay on the pitch for 90+ mins the man is a lazy useless waste of space the man is shite!! #avfc
Onomah and Bjarnason. Leave the club please. #shit #crap #twats
Onomah is finished at Villa. Doesn't care.
This kid has a future, but it ain't in football.
That's just it though, he's clearly not garbage he's just incredibly lazy. He expects everything to come to him without him offering an option or putting a shift in. Going to be a big waste of talent IMO. Hope Bruce bollocks him at ht.
Once again we scapegoat a player...
He was poor on Saturday, but then he was playing in a position that doesn't suit him. He's a centre midfielder however we barely ever play him there which is why we don't see the best from him. With Grealish out tomorrow we need to play him through the middle to carry the ball forward for us. Granted he's not as good as Grealish but he's our best option for this currently, especially with O'Hare looking unlikely to be in the squad. If we play someone like Lansbury or Jedinak with Bjarnasson then the team is too defensive and we struggle to get out.
Onomah started the season really well for us but he has been limited to 10/20 minute spells here and there, or being played in the completely wrong position, left wing, striker etc.
I'm just shocked how much stick he gets. Hourihane had about 5 touches all half and yet people wanted him to stay on the pitch and this guy off.
I'm not saying he had a good game. But he was no way the worst player on the pitch.
He is not defended because he is good. It's because he is not as bad as people make out. For example had he been taking off at half time like many wanted it would have meant we would have continued being completely over run in the middle of the park because Hourihane was not in the game at all! People seem to act like his the route of all our problems and taking him out the team will rectify them.
He has had bad games, but tonight wasn't one. Did a lot more than a lot of others tonight so deserves a starting place next game unless our golden boys are back.
Wouldn't you if they are prepared you £40K a week..He ain't going to get that anywhere elseIs Alan Hutton still there?
Not really, it all depends on poch, Kane came back to us at the same age off the back of a loan where he was played out of position and berated by his own fansThink he’s gonna take a year or two long than we want him to. Another loan next season will be needed.
Have you seen our match thread every week?Villa are looking dead set for a playoff place, if not even sneaking into 2nd and automatic promotion and their fans never shut the f*ck up moaning.
He had a match rating of 7.6, which was third best after motm Hutton (8.0) and the CB Chester (7.8)
so he must not have been that bad, just Villa fans blaming the one player who isn't theirs.
Edit: a few Villa fans buck the trend though tbf.
No matter how much stick he gets from the Villa supporters, I think this has been a good experience for Josh - he clearly continues to work to get in the side and not hanging his head when he is not selected. I take that as a positive for his development.Starting for Villa again today
