Great to get the 3pts but shouldn't let this cloud the fact that it was pretty turgid before Shelvey's brainfart. We often seem to have this problem when playing away with a 4-2-3-1 formation; the wingbacks don't offer enough of a threat, their back line condenses and none of our forwards get any space (hence the zero output from Dele/Harry before the sending off). Good as KWP and Davies played they are still undoubtedly full-backs playing as wingbacks, by that I mean they don't offer enough of a wide threat to worry the opposition defence. The signing of a genuine Walker-esque RWB will be our make-or-break this year, and is for me the most important piece of business we get done by the end of the window, though I worry KWP's performance will convince Poch he no longer needs one.

He did ok; lucky it was a shit N'castle tbh. He wasn't properly tested at the back. Forward play isn't going to be a problem at all, but he will need time to gain confidence defending our right corner.

Don't load too much expectation on him because he will make errors and will take time to properly integrate.

Fairly patronising post. I'm kind of taking the piss and have seen him play plenty.

I love his attitude and effort. Lovely eloquent boy on camera too. That's all you want

No expectation, and he gave away a silly penalty that was saved by an offside flag as I said at the time, but plenty to work with and on

Not really sure why so many people are so adverse to piling expectation on him tho. We're never short of doing that to others who've looked far less impressive

Delighted for KWB. Brilliant psychological man management by Poch to so recently and publicly declare the player not ready, then ultimately give him the vote of confidence on the big day. That he polished the affair off with a strong performance is all the better. Well done, young fella.

KWP definitely has the potential to play as an out and out wingback. I mean he was a seriously offensive threat in youth teams. Just needs to build confidence and get used to this level.

And if we were to go more attacking that would have left us a bit more open and they would have had more chances ;)

Nothing to complain about here, we managed the match perfectly.
No we wouldn't have. No where did I suggest we go gung-ho looking for more goals. They created nothing all game until we went into "Game Management" mode.

Maybe we can get away with not signing another RB? As long as we reinvest the money elsewhere. Not sure, the kid did well though.

My main worry in us bringing in another RB is that we block the progress of a young player with bags of potential.

Would much rather we spend our limited funds on other areas of the squad.

Their backline condensed even more once Shelvey went off as they parked the bus hoping to hang on to 0-0. Both goals came from intricate, accurate passing around their penalty area rather than any individual getting space to do something.

Not sure how you got that out of my post. Just think we all need to be careful about expecting miracles because as soon as he makes the mistakes he will make people are gonna be on top of him.

It was more a post for us all to be wary of ourselves in regards to him.

I could of picked a few posts to make that reply to tbh - just happened to be yours.

So what do you suggest by easily creating more chances, we'd have to be more attacking which inevitably leaves more space at the back should they counter right? So I don't see how you cannot conclude that they possibly would have made more chances?

What's the point of exerting energy in a match we'd already won especially when we have Chelsea next week?
