The start to the second half was unbelievable. It’s quite an achievement but I’d haven’t seen us be so useless on the ball for a good many years as we were yesterday.
We give the ball away too much in most games we play.

Steve Bruce showed he is a better tactician than Mourinho. Moyes has done an amazing job with a rubbish team. Our manager has done a pathetic job with a team which includes some highly experienced class players.

JM thinks he’s the best but Kane is! Son is! Lloris is a World Cup winning captain, and the second most capped French player. Toby a defensive fixture in the no.1 ranked side in the world. I could go on. All this proves JM is a poor coach. The two I mentioned above are much better because of what they have produced with so much less. I can’t believe anyone really thinks Jose is the man for us, or anyone. But then I have never done drugs

Japhet gave up on the chase for the second Toons goal as well as a couple of others.

I could premeditate every loss of possession...

Watching in play - Ball comes to Spurs player... Buggers it up loses the ball.
.
Newcastle attacking Spurs defence giving the Toon players the freedom of St James' Park between the half way line and the penalty area.
.
Two Spurs defenders going for the ball - "You have it" - "No - you have it" Toon player .. "Thanks ya mugs"

Our passing and movement yesterday was awful. Sanchez and Reggy were all at sea, as was Lloris’ distribution. Him and Sanchez should not be allowed to pass the ball, someone literally needs to come and take it off their toes. We are not good in possession, we don’t have the strength in midfield to dominate and hold on to the ball. We really need to add someone like Soumare to our team, give us some strength and composure in midfield. Everyone saying Skipp will do that, I’m not sure that’s exactly his place though, as good as he is.
Do our defenders and ‘keeper purposely look to hoof it long as the plan is to bypass our midfield? Or are the midfield not giving us enough options? Either way, we looked a right mess yesterday, and gutted as I am with the equaliser, you can’t say they didn’t deserve it.

As bad as I've seen for a long time.

Talking Sherwood levels, loads of last ditch blocks and lack of covering or even a shape.

More like panic blocks . If our defenders were more composed, they could have cleared the ball before Newcastle scored the equaliser. If Toby or Jan were there, they would have kept their cool and cleared the ball.

Our inability to play out from the back, defend effectively and clear our lines is our biggest problem along with our poor static to heading. Starting to wonder whether the guy who is training our defensive unit is to blame. He was my hero as a player but is he any good at coaching.

Ledley isn't the defensive coach.

Rodon was very good.
Seconds before the equaliser Lamela should have passed to Son.....missed sitter there. That’s his problem, lack of vision and awareness.

I'd say that on plenty of occasions our forward play has been just as much to blame for points dropped as our defence. The defence gets spotlighted constantly but we've butchered so many opportunities as well which seems to go under the radar.

I don't think of Hojbjerg as a defensive midfielder as such, more of a destroyer. He chases, closes down, blocks and breaks up play, but doesn't sit in front of the defence, which is what we need. Next season Skipp will provide added protection but we need to move to a 3 man midfield to get the right balance. Currently our defence is left exposed, meaning that the weakest area of our team is put under even more pressure and mistakes continue to be made. This is the biggest issue with the double pivot that Jose favours.

We've needed to move to a 3 man midfield for months but Mourinho constantly picks a pivot. Yesterday's line up looked like a midfield 3, but no, we have Hojbjerg on his own in front of the CBs and Lo Celso and Ndombele behind the front line. Anyone wondering how Newcastle managed an Xg of 4.7 or whatever it was only need look at our player heat maps to see why. Mourinho the 'tactical genius' my arse.

I thought he was and he is one of the coaches. Whilst I would love to think that Ledders is not responsible for the diabolical defending of late. The question then...who is responsible?

Jose/Joao

Ledley doesn't have any experience of coaching and he's still technically an apprentice, I wouldn't think he's responsible for setting up an entire defence more probably improving individual players.

I see people have moved on from Winks / Sissoko / Dier / Doherty / onto Reguillon / Sanches / Tanganga / and others to complain about and off course its just the players that are at fault . I am convinced with the right manager / coach we have good players at this club .
When Poch left everything was a bit stale and we had to move on and so Hoijberg ; Reggie ; Bergwijn ; Vinicious etc were brought in to freshen things up . To listen to many on here its all down to the players . Some realism needs to be brought to the table .
The special one has gone stale lets move on to new pastures I watch some of these teams below us with lesser squads playing in a system where they all seem to be on board there lack of wins is down to having lesser players than their opponents . There are multiple managers who could get a tune out of our ( crap squad ) and that is by coaching .
Something our manager seems unable to do .

Who’s our next manager?

Three man midfield would suit us
