Great second half performance. Harry Kane's jinxed August gloom seems to be carrying on. Kyle Waker-Peters MOTM, well deserved. Eriksen was brilliant today. COYS!!!!

KWP my new favourite player
He did ok; lucky it was a shit N'castle tbh. He wasn't properly tested at the back. Forward play isn't going to be a problem at all, but he will need time to gain confidence defending our right corner.

Don't load too much expectation on him because he will make errors and will take time to properly integrate.

It sounds silly, but psychologically the most pleasing thing is: we're in front of Chelsea and Leicester!

Not silly at all mate. The prem is all about momentum, follow this up with another 3pts against the chavs and we'll be really cooking, even 2 games in. If nothing else points on the board help confidence and give us a buffer for those games we naturally won't manage to win.

When i logged in at haft time was amazed at the comments , The match was flat but it was up to Newcastle to assert themseths against us , This was the hardest of first game to have had esp away to a team like Newcastle at there ground on their return to the prem . Spurs were always gonna raise and get stronger in the second haft . Lets have more faith .

Maybe we can get away with not signing another RB? As long as we reinvest the money elsewhere. Not sure, the kid did well though.

That's our game management which is spot on IMO, we could have gone all out but no need, reserve our energy and take the 3 points and clean sheet.

Trying to preserve energy for Chelsea, sensible decision from Poch. We didn't start the pressing game until later in the season last year, that's when we started banging in the goals for fun.

Early doors it makes sense to preserve energy like you say, just get 3 points, that's all that matters.

3 points fairly routinely at St James Park.

First time I've ever typed that.

Good start.

This. They've been a bogey team for a while for some strange reason. I expected St James' to be rocking today but it seems like they were maybe a bit intimidated by us.

Absolute stroll in the park.

That game management gave them a few chances. We could have easily created and scored more without exerting ourselves as the injury time chances showed.

And if we were to go more attacking that would have left us a bit more open and they would have had more chances ;)

Nothing to complain about here, we managed the match perfectly.

This is an important point. Our first game was away to a promoted team. Thats always tricky, cos everyones really up for it. It was also Newcastle who have a bit of a bogey team for us both recently and historically, I mean we have never done the double against them since the premier league started.

Yep we need to temper the excitement a bit.

He did well but wasn't really tested defensively and actually didn't create chances going forwards.

It's not a criticism but some realism.

That said, I think today's performance from KWP is more than enough to show we don't need to buy a new right back.
