It's got to be Wanyama and Winks in the middle for me, he's ready and imo will perform better than Alli as part of the midfield 2.

Really hope all our players are back for City though...

So frustrating regarding Dembele in particular. Waited for the suspension to end, then told/appeared it was just cramp after Sunderland, and now has missed two games and we've no idea if he'll be fit for City.

Team picks itself now. Only curveball is starting Harry Winks alongside Wanyama

Thought Dembele and Dier just had cramp against Sunderland?

Please don't tell me no Dembele for City, would be a huge miss.
I don't think we should read anything too sinister into this but clearly, and perhaps disappointingly Poch isn't seeing Champions League as a priority for us.

I'd expect us to look like;

Lloris

Walker Alderweireld Vertonghen Davies

Wanyama
Alli Eriksen

Lamela Son
Janssen

If that were the case mate, Dembele would of played against Boro, not played mid week and then played on Sunday against City.

Wonder if Edwards has travelled, surely cant just rely on GNK to be our only attacking change on the bench (plus onomah but he isnt really a game changer at this stage)

Potential 'attacking' subs if he plays the line up i think: Carroll, Winks, Onomah, GKN... :cautious:

Perhaps but then if he did do that the media furore over showing 'disrespect' to the Champions League competition would have been unwanted and pile even more pressure on obtaining a result against Man City - at least by doing this it's much more subtle and instead can be perceived to give us a boost by having Dier and Dembele (possibly Rose too) returning to the fold in a top of the table clash.

I think Poch has been focussed on this weekends fixture against City since last week.

I suspect that Poch has Guardiola on the mine. What a scalp that would be for him.

Certainly hope you're right mate, think Dembele is crucial for our chances on Sunday.

Poch isn't the kind of coach to have personal battles, let alone have them in mind over team battles.

Didn't Poch say in a recent press conference that they initially thought it was cramp, but it turned out to be a little worse, but not a serious issue?

At the time it looked like a classic hamstring strain for both Dier and Dembele so I would be surprised if they're back within 3 weeks of the time of the injury.

Anyway, I actually think we'll see a similar formation to the one against Boro. I think it will be:

Lloris
Walker - Alderweireld - Vertonghen - Davies
Wanyama
Lamela - Eriksen - Alli/Winks - Son
Janssen

Vorm - Trippier - Wimmer - Alli/Winks - Onomah - N'Koudou - Edwards/Carter-Vickers

Not 100% convinced my definition of cramp is the same as Pochettino's...
He's already said it was more than cramp. Last week's press conference for the Boro game he said it was more than cramp.

Not sure why people are wetting themselves about this. Very sensible decision to not rush players back for this game, when we have a huge game on Sunday too. We have a big enough and strong enough squad to win tomorrow night without those guys.

Not wetting myself, but it was clear from the minute they limped off that it wasn't cramp. Not sure why Poch diagnosed it as cramp originally.

Not moaning, just an observation.

If the players listed are indeed out for City as well, the team won't look much different to the one that beat City 4-1 ( to the day I might add)

Same back 5, same attacking three, just Wanyama for Dier and Janssen for Kane.

Let that team get some rythm going starting tomorrow night, there's enough recovery time - especially this early in the season.

With 5 senior players missing the trip, carbon copy of Boro with the exception of Lamela for Sissoko...

Lloris
Walker Toby Jan Davies
Wanyama Alli
Lamela Eriksen Son
Janssen

Bench: Vorm, Trippier, CCV, Wimmer, Winks, Onomah, N'Koudou

Would like to see Winks get a taste of the CL around 60-70 minutes.
