The change was an obvious must and Janssen looks class. I still like our dembele lineup but when we need a change he is it.

I want to see:

- more from Eriksen. He needs to make his actions speak louder than the press
- more from Dele. Still unsure where his position is. He can't really beat players on 1v1's. Needs to Lampard it and drop a bit deeper. He was far to high in the first half.
- Harry Winks get a run. I think Dembele being out is the perfect time to see what winks has. I really think he has it. Has some Pirlo in him.
- Poch to continue to show the ability to change. He didn't wait too long to see the team needed a spark. Make the change when it needs it. If a player is out of form. Drop them and give others a chance.

Don't think that's too bad myself. That was always going to be a really tough game to start the season with. Onward and upward.

What? Wanyama had a decent game.

Swap Wanyama for Kane and i'd agree with you
Wanyama had a very mixed bag, as far as I am concerned their freak goal was mostly his fault. Its unacceptable to give such a cheap freekick in such a good position ten minutes into a game when it really isn't necessary.

In the end, that was a decent result. We almost never win at Goodison and we could have been dead and buried after that first half. Janssen completely changed the game. I would give him the start in our next game. Harry doesn't look anywhere close to being up to speed.

Need to look for a top quality cm if we're gonna complete unless Poch thinks Dembele can realistic play over 40 games

Cause wan and Dier is just a terrible nothing combo. 2 guys sitting infront of the back 4 not moving not playing forward passes

No. dont agree, the lack of incision was due to key attacking trio Eriksen, Alli and Kane doing and creating fuck all for the whole game.

Disappointed we couldn't take all 3 points. We finish the stronger team, just wasn't able to take our chances tonight. Frustrating that we took so long to find our rhythm, but i am glad we improved in the 2nd half. overall its a fair result, but with a little more luck we could have turned the single point to 3.

think the team will only get better the more they play together. lots of positives... very impress with Wanyama & Dier. both did well.

I think we were a bit lucky to get something out of the game today, a a fully fit Everton side and I think it's game over. We have been linked with creative midfielders, I believe Poch knows what we need. Hopefully we can get someone in before Mitchell leaves.
Neither were we TBF.. And a missing Dembele..

Of course not, just think we could of showed more in the first half in terms of trying to take the initiative.

As I said at half time, Poch's problem is he is tactically very predictable, whilst Koeman is a very good tactical organiser and with Dier and Wanyama as CM2 it was all a bit predictable. I don't think Everton deserved to be winning, but wit two risk averse CM's and a bunch of fumbly AM's we weren't looking likely to create much either.

Credit where it's due, Poch acted earlier than he normally does, and it definitely had a positive impact on the dynamics of the game.

I really didn't think Everton were that great. He scored what was ultimately a lucky goal and other than Rose's poor backpass, they didn't have many chances

All the reports said it was 35 yards from goal? Was that not the case? Just sounds like one of those freak, lucky deliveries that fool everyone.

It was a rusty start, which is to be expected. Plenty of positives (Janssen, Lamela and the mentality to come back) to go with the negatives. I think a draw is fair, honestly.

Fair enough, I disagree with that statement as there was no midfield to link the defence to the attack.
Alli and Eriksen were bad but they had very little space due to the states behind them not making any runs or showing dynamism.
And they ended up having to collect the ball from deep too many times with them only a solitary Kane to try and play off. Easy pickings for a hard working Everton

I guess a draw away to Everton isn't a bad start. I think Eriksen and Alli are really going to need to step it up tho. Janssen looks quality although he should have scored. Kane was a complete ghost, not sure if that was on him or on the complete lack of support.

I will likely get flamed, but Eriksen is not got any fight in his game, but obvioulsy offers quality in other parts of his game.

Unfortunatley as this level players need some steele in their game. Lamela is proof of that. Skill wuth when needed agression.

Nobody should get paid more than Dembele in this team.

Can't do a thing without him
Like get a point at Goodison?

It wasn't Barcelona but it was much better than when Mason and Carroll were used last season. Still though I agree we need another all round midfielder in there if Bentaleb is going. We've been linked to Adrien Silva and I think he would be ideal.

If you notice from results of last year and this first game all the mgrs with tactical nous (rafa, koeman, Mou, even friggin Pardew) do the same thing to us, low block, pack the midfield, funnel play wide, press our CBs with mulitple forwards, and hit us on the counter. Mou began it in our Nov Chelsea (actually in the league cp final) game and others have taken notice. We need tactical or personnel plan Bs. Janssen has helped. Driving pace will also help. Dembele out does not help.
