Veljkovic has refused a new contract precisely because he Doesn't want to be an understudy, he wants regular first team football. Do keep up.No Alli and Toby settled straight away as they had preseasons I believe. Son has struggled for form and consistency and was bought a couple of days before the window. That is what will happen with any Jan signing. Plus Son was also high quality o doubt we'd be able to prise someone of his level away in Jan.
Way I see it from my knowledge of world football there is maybe only that Marseille guy who looks like he could come in and have the sufficient quality and experience in that role to make a difference now. No point loaning or signing a quick fix who needs to be sold later.
Also starting to like that people are now coming round to the idea of training players we already have rather than buying average. When we had that debate in the other thread. No point clogging up a squad doing well.
Dream Jan for me would be Veljkovic signing and being understudy to Dier and then getting the understudy to Kane. If we don't use what we have and maybe trying Harrison off the bench as he is now beginning to train with first team and see how he gets on
Trying to improve the team isn't being realistic?? Ok.Because people are being realistic.
Trying to improve the team isn't being realistic?? Ok.
It's not my job to give an answer to that question, that's what scouts are for. People on here asking for "backups" clearly lack ambition to improve.OK, tell me a player who we could realistically sign that is better than Kane, would score more goals and would fit perfectly in our pressing style?
The best thing about these posts is that when you subsequently ask them the above question, they can't give an answer.
And there we go, the cop-out answer always given. It's not my job to give an answer to that question, that's what scouts are for. People on here asking for "backups" clearly lack ambition to improve.

Name someone.
Who said anything about "hidden gems"??? Show me where I said that?? I said we should aim to improve, which we should, if you don't think we should then fine, that's your prerogative, but you lack ambition. And there we go, the cop-out answer always given.
Any striker better than Kane is going to be extremely well-known, and someone that everyone's heard of, so the whole 'that's what scouts are for' is BS. There's no 'hidden gem' that is better the Kane.

I agree I don't see Lewis selling - too much investment and, importantly, time put in. Could make much more doing something else that requires less time. (Property analogy is not right tho - a lot of developers sell off plan before they have built the thing, a lot sell with planning permission granted, never mind off plan. Better thinking you have bought the land, built it up, then rented it out, then sold it when rents and capital value are About to jump. Unless Lewis needs money, no need to sell)
Only reason I could see Lewis wanting to sell up before the stadium project is that at 78 he must be planning his affairs for when he passes on, maybe getting is affairs in order as football club investments would be best not left to heirs.
now now...sarcasm?I don't know where you got that from but you clearly have a better understanding of the Milos situation than I do. Thank you for the info
While I understand your straight line logic, your posts are making you come across as naive, impatient and angry.Who said anything about "hidden gems"??? Show me where I said that?? We should improve, and you can bet that Poch is looking very hard at where and how we can.
However, the notion that we can only improve by improving the starting 11, is a short sighted viewpoint, which has been debated ad nauseum in other threads and shouldn't continue here.
That said, the gist of the counterargument is that it's a squad game, with rotation, so any player that would improve that squad (usually by replacing an existing squad member) would be beneficial to Spurs. In this instance, an additional striker (of sufficient and appropriate skill set) would improve the squad. It doesn't have to be better than Kane, it has to be better than the alternative to Kane (which is currently playing an AM out of position). Of course, getting a CF better than Kane would improve Spurs, but we don't have the draw (money, wages, CL football) to get that sort of player (at the moment).
Dragon1 on ftl: Despite what some on here believe club is aggressively for sale , and uncle joe is driving the bus on that front not pinhead , pinhead knows he has a short time to go down in Tottenham folklore , will he break the habit of a lifetime and actually for once give the coach what he needs this window
hertyid on coys: SB has been off the list since the summer really. We signed Son and Clint for big money and not really clear how SB would fit in now. He's not a Kane replacement, we have pace and trickery from the flanks, we have a 4-2-3-1 formation in our blood, there is balance. Furthermore, the word from the Midlands is he's become a walking disaster zone - unfit, disruptive, overweight, not turning up to training, mouthing off to coaching staff. Idiot. And not the kind of player MP wants at Spurs.
With Benteke scoring again at Anfield I'd be surprised if they were interested. Likely he will end up at a team spending big to try and stay up.
