What are the odds of that during the 1st game at home this season the first shot to balloon over the bar, the commentator will say 'Well that would be an extra point in a few years time.....'

I wouldn't of thought Townsend will be starting

We don't know the exact details of the deal with the NFL (other than the minimum 2 games and the 10-year partnership), but it will certainly be worth more to us financially than just the 'rental' payments. Owning a stadium which plays host to not just one but two of the wealthiest and most-watched sports competitions in the world puts us in a unique and incredibly strong position commercially.

Also, if the NFL do decide to go ahead with a London-based franchise at some point in the future we're pretty much a shoo-in to be their home, given that we already have a good relationship and that we will have the only large stadium in the country which has been specifically designed to cater for the needs of the sport.

What was always a given with the new stadium was that it would bring our match day revenues in line with the elite clubs. What the NFL tie-in does is offer the potential for us to close the gap on commercial revenues as well. I can't speak for anyone else, but that's what I find most exciting about the partnership.

My only concern on that front would be Chelsea with their new stadium. Wouldn't put it past them to revise there plans with a view towards getting in on the action when our contract ends. They do so enjoy fucking us over after all.

Hopefully not though and aside from them it's as you say. Hard to see what other option there would be as I can't envision any other NFL capable stadiums being built over the next couple of decades. The big clubs are all either sorted or already have plans in action. If a franchise ever does arise then I'd see us being the main base with Wembley possibly being used for a couple of the big marquee games. Long long way off of course though.

Also mean that levy can make a lot of connections.
We have probably jumped to second choice for corpoate boxes after wembley. Demand will be huge.
Raising revenue through the creation of new markets. What every corporation wants. As someone has previously mentioned we're not bankrolled by oil barons etc; Levy has created additional company wealth with a long term plan - and pitch side, we're investing in Poch's beliefs, and a Dutch style system of raising up and coming players with a good sell on value. What a satisfying way to take Spurs to the next and 21st century level. Pisses on plastic clubs like chelski and Man city etc

Lots of ITKs called the Toby transfer the wrong way; which leads me to believe the club is pretty tight lipped about most things these days.

We know things when the club wants us to know. Not before.

Itk about the stadium has been great though.

Oh well. In the end, Alderweireld that ends well.

I believe itk has suggested that Wimmer was purchased as an understudy to Vertonghen. As for Dier, he can easily get 20 or more games when you include Europa League and the other cups.

JJ I think did say he was seen as not first team ready and might be loaned out.

Days like today will no doubt swell the ranks of the BSoDL following.......I myself feel a strange draw back in to their grasp.

Mind you, the slight change in JJ's tone has kept me real....

Certainly a possibility that Chelsea could try to muscle in, but their stadium plans are already compromised somewhat by the space restrictions of their site (have you seen the bizarre shape of their proposed new ground?)

Even if they had the will to try to make their stadium genuinely multi-purpose and suitable for NFL, I'm not sure they could find a way to overcome the impracticalities without making significant further compromises - and that would not be popular with their fans.

We have an agreement in place for the next 10 years. Chelsea can't "muscle in".

Its always going to be 2nd hand / 3rd hand / 4th hand info though (unless of course JJ and others are sitting in the negotiations). I suspect with Toby that everyone thought the deal was too complicated but when they actually reviewed the agreement with Saints they found an opportunity and pounced very quickly...before the info was able to be passed on.

It has a minimum amount of games. At least 2 games of nfl every year. Whatever chelsea do will not change that.
The discussion was with regard to the potential for hosting a franchise long term beyond the 10 year contract. No concerns about losing the games already agreed upon.

There is enough local opposition to their stadium as it is, I really think they would struggle to get permission for any other events.

Anyway **** them, this is our day
