It's not little understood. Every man and his dog who's watched more than 5 football matches knows you can't be offside in your own half.
That's not the rule I was talking about, its the one concerning two players goalside even if not a keeper. He was trying to be smart with that and completely fucked up the big rule.

It's not that we were crap, it's just the same old problems that Pochettino doesn't really seem to be curing.

Even fucking Foy can see he's in his own half. It's not just diabolical from the linesman, it's both of them.

Just hope we don't lose out on 4th by 1 GD ......OK I know there's not much chance of that haha

When you get a performance from the linesman like that it really is hard to not think some have an agenda
theres not grey area. its incompetence or corruption. we all know that rule from school days so a paid proffesional should be fined big or sacked

He looked young/new when they zoomed in on him earlier, I assume it was him anyway. Discipline, yes, but he shouldnt lose his PL job over it

Yes he should, he's clearly not capable of doing the job, send him to the lower leagues and let him learn the rules first before giving him a PL game.

Disagree with that, Kendall me ole mucker. That's the linesman equivalent of Homer Simpson pushing the "Turn Off Core Reactor Cooling System" button - no matter how honest the mistake was, it's one he shouldn't be recovering from.

Boy oh boy, that was stressful for the old ticker. Great pressure on them on the second half. Vertonghen's second goal should have stood.

I know this may be odd, but I'm super pissed off that the goal wasn't given and it's kind of tarnished the win for me a little.

The lino should never work in the PL again, at least. Absolute incompetence and pathetic. I can understand getting some decisions wrong as it's a split second but for me this shows a total lack of understanding of the rules. For all the money he earns in a week/ year and he gets a basic decision like that horrifically wrong

Lino had made a couple of bad calls before this as well

honestly, it was so egregious it really does make me wonder if criminal gambling interests were involved. incompetence is the most likely explanation, but organized crime would love to fix a match and make money from the bookies.

Poch should do his nut after the game - practically refuse to answer any other questions and just demand the goal be credited correctly and the official sacked. Obviously he won't, obviously the goal won't be credited etc, but I am really furious and for once I'd like to see the club actually make a stand against this blatant corruption/incompetence.

So would I mate. People call it swings and roundabouts in terms of decisions going for you and against you over the course of a season, evening themselves out etc.

But this is another level all together. These arn't tight calls, they're absolutely glaringly obvious. Its actually ridiculous, I'm still in disbelief but what I want to see some reaction from the Club/Poch.

Thing is, how much will we care later? Or tomorrow? We are often on the receiving end of major, major bad calls that simply don't happen to other teams with such regularity. They are not even borderline. I'm not on about 'was it handball or not' that go either way

Mendes, Chelsea away, Chelsea in the semi at Wembley, Webb at Man Ure when giving them a penalty in 2009 when we were 2-0 up and comfy. Foy at Stoke the other year. Several extremely dodgy red cards last year. And now this.

Even though we won the game, we need to kick up a major stink. On social media. Radio phone ins. Everywhere. Otherwise the incompetent referee governing body will wash it under the carpet and move on.

I'm sure i'm not the only spurs fan/football fan that feels like the 'refs are against us' but it is something I have felt strongly for many years, there have been too many monumental clusterfucks where we have been on the receiving end and the club/players/manager do not make enough of a deal about it.

Foy and his team should be fined, banned, demoted. The lot. I can't believe that is just down to 'innocent' incompetence

Believe @Mr Pink should be calling for this lineman's head, as his tripe prevented Pink from correctly predicting the score.

A win is a win but still concerned we give the opposition too much space and chances, as lloris kept us in it when we should have won easily.

I just hope Poch could bitch about that incompetence and dared the FA/Ref Assoc to punish him for his challenge... and then either decision from the FA/Ref Assoc will just give themselves a huge tight slap! we just need to see that don't we?

but I know Poch wouldn't.. :(

For anyone who still doubts... from the rulebook:

A player is not in an offside position if:

  • he is in his own half of the field of play
  • he is level with the second last opponent
  • he is level with the last two opponents

Sometimes I feel that demotion is a bit strong on these guys. Then I equate it to making a big gaff in your job or consistently making poor judgement, the result is you would most likely find your self demoted or at worst looking for a new job.

Shocked it's not been brought up anywhere how diabolical that officiating is, Christmas DVD stuff.
I guess because we won it didn't effect the outcome so will be quietly swepted under the rug. I'd be screaming bloody murder in every interview though if I was mo Po
